All the Fuss Over Medicare for What?
Seniors Have Been Duped and Doctors Are No Longer Accepting Medicare
Generally, I am given an appointment immediately, instead, the receptionist told me to 'please wait'. I knew then and there that something was amiss. I thought that maybe I had said or done something to upset my chiropractor and wondered what it could have been.
I waited on the telephone, for what seemed like an hour. Actually it was only a few minutes, because the doctor had to finished treating his patient.
It was then that I was told, that he was no longer going to treat any patients who carried Medicare. Oh Woe Is Me!!!
He continued to say that Medicare has decreased the payments to the doctors, and since they are being paid less, and that Medicare takes such a long time paying, they were no longer going to treat patients who have Medicare.
I was, to say it nicely and politely, irate! I pay a lot of money to Medicare, and a few hundred more to have full medical cost coverage. I still pay, but no longer have coverage!
I thought that the new Medicare Plan was going to be better, at least that is what President Obama promised 'us seniors'. Better for who I wonder, it certainly is not for me or for you, or any senior citizens who opt for Medicare.
We seniors are getting a proverbial shaft. Everyone thinks that we seniors have free Health care coverage - but let me assure you that we do not! Far from it! It costs me a few hundred a month to get my 'free Medicare.'
Now - the government has cut the amount that they are paying for medical coverage for seniors. If we were smart we would pay the fee the doctors charge- and not pay for Medicare coverage. I betcha we would be ahead of the game.
I wish the Congressmen and Senators who left on their vacation before they passed the bill to increase the fees paid to the doctors. But they did not! Why should they care? They get the best medical coverage there is - and for them it is free.
Seniors should yell and send their Congressmen email, letters or phone calls. Tell them we need the medical treatment, including Chiropractic as well, and that they should pay them more and not less and pay them faster and not at a slow pace.
Lets wake up seniors - show President Obama that we care. And while you are at it, tell them that Medicare should pay for Acupuncture as well! and cut back on all of the prescription drugs that have unbelievable 'side-effects.

Post a CommentYou must have made up your story about your doctor saying Medicare doesn't pay on time. Everything is done by computer and Medicare is required to pay immediately. I have talked to doctors who've told me Medicare pays less than insurance companies, but at least Medicare pays quickly while insurance companies require more paperwork and more hoops to be jumped through so they can delay paying.
Your statement about Medicare is dishonest and I also suspect the rest of your story about doctors not accepting Medicare. Primary doctors are being paid more money under the Affordable Care Act and studies have shown that there is no trend of doctors not taking Medicare.
The end of June brought the summer heat and another Congressional stumble in funding adequate health care services for older adults. Medicare was bruised, but in one more high drama Medicare sequel the final bill put off the draconian cuts for six months with another band-aid. At stake is continued access to health care for seniors.
As one who had worked in the field of aging for decades and who is an independent in party affiliation, I value candidates whose voting record is pragmatic and personal. Last week my Congressman Joe Sestak once again took the pragmatic and personal approach; he supported legislation that helps ensure the doors to health care remain open for older adults.
Congressman Sestak’s record is one of on-going pragmatism and personal interest in assisting Pennsylvanians. He has been vocal in supporting legislation for seniors to stay healthily and simultaneously reducing overall health care costs through (1) access to preventive care, (2) closure of the infamous

This isn't the way it should be.
President Obama fooled many people with his good looks and well-done speeches. People are beginning to understand he shafted us all.
We have the same problem in the military with Tricare. It stinks to high heaven!
some very good information.
This is terrible! I hope it all works out for you!
Great article. I know this.. To see a neurologist I have to pay a huge copay.. like $80 where my regular doc would only be $20.
Tom, I agree. The doctors who take Medicare will be making out better than those who refuse. They will get all of the patients from the others. And yes, this specific doctor plays everything to the - well he crosses all of the t's and dots all of the sentences.
