All About Heathrow Airport Lounges

Sharazad
London Heathrow Airport is the largest airport in the United Kingdom, handling more international passengers than any other airport in the world. It is the primary hub of three major airlines, including British Airways, and is used by over 90 other airlines. Heathrow's facilities were originally designed to handle about 55 million passengers per year but it currently accommodates nearly 70 million. Thanks to over-crowding and delays, Heathrow has received low marks from travelers, who put it alongside Chicago's O'Hare airport as their least favorite in a TripAdvisor survey. However, the opening of a fifth terminal in 2008 has relieved the troubles and increased the airport's capacity to 90 million passengers per year.

When traveling through Heathrow Airport, or any airport, it is a good idea to take advantage of an airport lounge. For the price of a daily fee or membership, privacy, calm and comfort can be enjoyed in the middle of the madness. Heathrow Airport has three lounges for the traveler's convenience.

Heathrow Servisair Lounge (Terminal 1)

This luxury lounge allows travelers to await their flight in a tranquil, calm atmosphere. It is family friendly and has a luxury seating area where passengers can unwind. This lounge closes at 21:00 on Christmas Eve and is closed for the whole of Christmas day, so plan accordingly.

Heathrow Servisair Lounge (Terminal 3)

Heathrow lounges also offer free beverages and snacks to their guests as well as free internet access. They provide television, internet access, newspapers and magazines. Children aged 3 years and above are charged at the normal rate, but smaller children are free. The lounges are family friendly, as well as quiet.

Heathrow Holideck Lounge (Terminal 4)

The Holideck Lounge has a business lounge, where adults can catch up on their work. It also has an area for children to be children and enjoy some activity. There is also a flight viewing deck. The Holideck lounge has the highest satisfaction ratings from passengers, for a slightly higher price. It has been described as "modern" and "fresh"

Heathrow Airport's lounges are all comfortable and serene. They offer accommodations for families, business people and the disabled, with phone, television and internet access, as well as complimentary refreshments. When you book an airport lounge at Heathrow, the 'getting there' can be fun.
