For centuries hats have been a statement of style for every class of society-from dust biting street vendors to the word frothing men at the cafe, from the elegant cigar smoking baron to the svelte passion evoking songstress, hats decipher a personality, it gives an edge to define a social status. Hats are the mark of respect, a chutzpah for style icons since ages.Fedora hats, cowboy hats, Chinese, Vietnamese or the Mexican hats you just name them to prop up according to the occasion.
To plunge through the spine-chilling winter snow a suave satin top hat is perfect to beat this weather. If you're looking for the ideal summer spot to get that perfect tan then nothing suits you better than a cool Panama straw hat. And if you're wiling to steal the show in a grand sparkling night a satin-brim cartwheel is all that you require to steal the show.
Hats have a long unraveling history since time immemorial. Legends say that pirates wore hats that were boat shaped with a skull emblem -the symbol of death and destruction-on them.
The kind of hats indicated the class or community you belong to unlike modern days when hats are more passion and style driven.
In eighteenth century Europe Knights and Barons wore hats that were distinct of their profession-a conical shape hat with flaps in front and back.
During the early nineteenth century bowler hats became the common masses' force to reckon with-street vendors, reporters, clerks , chauffeurs-all wore bowler hats hyphening the birth of a new era- the generation of equality .And with the sprawling mafia business entered the trend of Fedora hats a.k.a Indiana Jones hat. Its tint of machismo and mystery became identified more with style and attitude resurrecting a new pop-culture.
Whether it's the high- heeled ladies smoking cigars or an ordinary coffee shop vendor a person without a hat is undefined and raw. Hats are an inevitable sign of style.
So hats off all those who've reinvented and carried on this hang -up for ages amongst us.
