All About a Honeymoon Registry

Laura Ward
When a couple plans to get married, you can expect to receive invitations for bridal showers. Many people also bring gifts to the actual wedding for the newly married couple to open when they return from the honeymoon. Sometimes brides and grooms to be are getting hitched later in life and already have blenders, picture frames, dishes and other household items. What do you get for the couple that has everything already? There is a new trend in gift giving for weddings, and that is to donate to the honeymoon fund! For many newly married couples, life is about the experience! Rather than a toaster, towels or other household items, some bride and grooms to be are asking their wedding guests to help pay for their honeymoon.

Normally, the bride and groom will talk with a travel agent and plan all of their honeymoon events. The travel agent will create a master list of all the expenses that are going to be included in the honeymoon. This can include cruise fares, airfare, car rental, activities, hotel rates and any other fees that are associated with the honeymoon. The bride and groom will then tell their friends and family members which travel agency they are using and the name of their agent. When friends and family are ready to give a shower gift, they simply contact the agency or agent and tell them that they would like to make a gift donation to the honeymoon fund of the bride and groom to be. The great thing about the registry is that the full amount of travel costs are shown and gift givers can choose how much they would like to give. When the honeymoon has been paid for, the balance will show an amount of zero and gift givers can give another gift to the couple. Perhaps spending money for the honeymoon or something else that is needed.

This new trend in wedding and shower registries is the perfect gift for the new couple. It is easy for the gift giver and will be something that the couple will look back on and cherish forever. There is no need to exchange the gift for another color, size or style!

Thank you for mentioning the benefits of a honeymoon registry and describing the attributes behind this increasingly mainstream registry option for engaged couples.

It is great to see how popular the honeymoon registry is becoming. When Traveler's Joy first started accepting Members over five years ago, we realized there were a large number of engaged couples that were not satisfied with the diversity of the traditional wedding registry market. Since then, the honeymoon registry has become a mainstream option for brides and grooms and the industry has experienced significant growth.

We are proud to have helped tens of thousands of couples honeymoon at destinations they may never have considered - a great feeling for everyone at Traveler's Joy.

I encourage you to contact us with any questions about our service. Most importantly, enjoy your honeymoon!

    Best Regards,

Not every honeymoon registry operates through a travel agent. For independent travellers, web sites such as Buy Our Honeymoon offer couples the opportunity to build their own registry of honeymoon activities and experiences from which guests can choose individual items.
