All About Lipstick: What to Do and What Not to Do

Shannon Frye
You can purchase several different types of lipstick and some will give you a professional appearance and some will may you look like white trash. You will want to purchase lip stick which isn't extremely bright colored. You will want to always purchase lip liner to go along with your lipstick. Never purchase lip liner which is darker than your lipstick. You've probably noticed some women walking around with lines around their lips. Always purchase lip liner than is a few shades lighter than your lipstick or this will make you look trashy.

If you are purchasing lipstick that is very light in color you will want to purchase a nude color lip liner. This lip liner is very light in color. You probably wonder, "What's the point of wearing lip liner that you cannot see?" It will make your lips look fuller and it will also help the lipstick hold better and you wont have to keep applying the lipstick because it will last longer if you use lip liner before you apply on your lipstick to your lips. I would always recommend wiping off your lips first and using some type of chap stick if you have dry lips. If you place lip liner on dry, cracked lips the dry skin will probably fall off, along with your lip liner.

If you find a color that you love and always use, remember to bring the empty container with you. Some people will purchase lip stick and forget where they bought it. Then they must start all over again, trying to find a color that they look good in along with a lip liner that doesn't stand out and make you look like a clown or worse. All department stores will have a very large supply of lip stick. If you are trying to see what it looks like, put the lipstick on your finger versus placing it on your lips. You never know what you can catch by sharing lip stick with the whole city.

One problem is keeping lip stick off of your teeth. There's nothing worse than putting on make up to walk around with lip stick teeth. You don't want to use toilet paper because you will leave residue all over lips! You can use a finger to blend in the lipstick and wipe your finger off onto a towel afterwords. Then test out your lip stick to make sure that it isn't going to end up all over your face and teeth.
