All Natural Cancer Reducers

Cancer is one word that should rate right up there with the scariest in the dictionary. The word hits home with just about everyone on the planet. If you do not suffer from this disease you will sure to have had it cross into your life one way or another. The statistics on http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PRO/content/PRO_1_1_Cancer_Statistics_2008_Presentation.asp state that this disease accounts for one quarter of the deaths in the United States. It is exceeded only by heart disease. With all of that information I have researched many articles and guides to help prevent this terrible plague from crossing my threshold.

In my search and quest to be cancer free I found information on many great herbs and foods. The first on the list is green tea. On http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/herbcancer I read that test-tube studies at Rutgers University found that compounds from green tea slowed the division of cancer cells from the lung and colon. Other studies have found that green tea stunts the growth of tumors in mice. It also states that their findings in humans are not substantial, but what is the harm in trying it?

Cats Claw was the next herb I crossed. For centuries it has been used in Peru for different cancers. It is also known to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy. The only ill side effect I found for cats claw is it thins the blood. My family has a history of blood clots and hardened arteries so this herb would in fact benefit me in that way as well. I found Cats Claw at my favorite online herbal store http://www.botanicchoice.com/shop.axd/Search?keywords=cats+claw&btn_go.x=0&btn_go.y=0 .

A plant (rather it is a bush) called Chaparral is also said to have high antioxidant content, which can protect one against the cell damage which leads to cancer. Some studies on laboratory rats suggest that chaparral does inhibit the growth of tumors, while the treated animals also survived significantly longer than the ones in the control group. My herbal store of choice does not carry this but I am keeping my eyes out for it.

Lobelia was the next plant that I found in my fight to protect myself and my family from cancer. Lobelia is a beautiful purple/blue flower. Extracts of Lobelia have an ingredient called lobeline, which showed positive effects in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tumor cells. Now while I do not take any cancer medications and pretty sure I do not have it, this is a plant that I will keep in mind and tell anyone I meet that has it.

I have known about the herb Pau D' Arco for some time now. It has been considered an everything herb. Pau D' Arco contains bitter compounds (one is called Laspachol) that have anti-tumor activity especially in certain blood and skin cancers. There is caution with this herb as it is known for its blood-thinning effect, but as I stated earlier this would not be a problem for me or my family. My favorite store also sells this herb in a lovely tea mix http://www.botanicchoice.com/More-Categories/Herbal-Teas/Pau-D-rsquo-Arco-Tea-Bags-24-bags.axd .

When I first saw the name Plantain I assumed it meant the banana; I was very wrong. The plantain that I researched starts out looking like a common green, leafy weed that everyone can find in their yard. There are many wonderful medical uses for plantain but the one that caught my eye was when I read that contemporary research confirmed the anti-inflammatory properties of Plantain, and has discovered elements that protect the body against tumors and help resist damage to the liver from chemotherapy drugs. The "protect" part is what I am interested in. I am keeping a very watchful eye out for when my store of choice decides to sell this wonder herb.

After finding several herbs I decided to look into which foods my family needs to eat more of. There is a list of them on this website http://www.westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/cancer_broch.html .

With all of my research and findings I am sure I will make healthier choices and protect my family the best that I can from this horrible beast called Cancer.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests.  View profile
