We all hate it when a cold takes over our bodies. There are millions of different types of colds that we can catch. However, most of the colds result in a painful feeling taking over our chests. This is known as chest congestion. The best way to describe what is going on in your body is that the mucus is becoming built up in your chest. This build up causes you to have discomfort in your chest and make it so that it is hard to breathe. You can also experience a difficult time in trying to cough up the mucus as well. Most people run out to purchase a remedy for this situation. Read on to find all-natural remedies for chest congestion that will save you money and help you get healthy.

My early life was filled with a lot of sickness due to a lung disease. I was born with a lung that was irregularly shaped. This made it very difficult for me to breathe. My immune system was very weak because of this, resulting in me capturing many different colds. One thing that I seemed to always get was severe chest congestion. Some moments would be so painful that I could not wait for medicine to help me get better. In fact, a lot of medicines did me no good. This is why I have developed a large list of all natural remedies that helped me fight chest congestion. Here are five remedies that I feel work very well.

I am going to start off by sharing with you two remedies that I used a lot as a child. The first remedy is to breathe in steam. You can use steam from a vaporizer, hot shower, or even a pan of boiling water. What happens is that the moist air that is coming from the steam will help loosen up all of the phlegm in your throat in lungs. Even your sinuses will begin to clear up! The other remedy is to use Bee balm. Popularized by Native Americans, bee balm has antiseptic compounds that are known to heal your chest congestion infections, as well as clear your nasal passages. All you need to do is place two teaspoons of bee balm leaves into a cup of hot water. Allow it to sit for up to four minutes and then drink. Drink the mixture three times a day.

Two more remedies that I like to use happen to be mixtures that a lot of people do not know about. One of my favorite things to do in order to fight chest congestion is to mix honey with the juice of a lemon. What you should do is place a lemon in boiling water for 5 minutes. Take the lemon out, cut it in halves, and drain the juice into a pint of raw honey. The mixture contains antibacterial properties that will clear our throat. You can also use a Cayenne pepper mix to clear your congestion. Take a teaspoon of the pepper and put it into a glass of water. Your going to gargle with the mixture. Immediately after, you should feel the heat from the pepper. The pepper will help you clear your congestion through drawing blood to the throat.

Perhaps my favorite remedy is one that has worked for me on numerous times. My favorite remedy of all is one that uses thyme. Thyme is very powerful in the fight against chest congestion. You will need to use two tablespoons of fresh thyme. The tablespoons will be placed into a small cup of boiling water. Allow the thyme to boil for about four minutes, covered. Make sure to drink the mixture as it is still hot. The heated thyme mixture helps relax your lungs and promoted expectoration of your mucus. Thyme is aided by a thymol, an oil, which happens to have both antiseptic and antibacterial properties. The result is your chest congestion disappearing rather quickly.

You will quickly find that these all natural remedies will help you greatly. I have had to try hundreds of different remedies throughout the years. A lot of people lay claim that their "said" remedy is the best. I hope you defiantly try one of the five remedies that I have shared with you today. This is because I am the perfect ambassador for those who have suffered from chest congestion. Doctors and family have helped me fight the pain that chest congestion can cause. It is my hope that by sharing this information with all of you, that I can help you in your battles as well.
