DIY Exfoliating cleanser: You can make exfoliating cleanser with lemon juice and baking soda. To make the exfoliating cleanser put two tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl and slowly add lemon juice to the baking soda allowing it to fizz. Use just enough lemon juice to make a thin paste. Massage the mixture into your skin for two minutes and remove it with a warm damp cloth.
Lip Stain: Instead of using lipsticks filled with toxins that you will ingest during the course of the day, create an easy lip stain from your own kitchen. Crush raspberries, or blackberries, and apply them to your lips with a brush. One berry should be plenty for an application. A few pomegranate seeds will also make a lovely stain for your lips. Kool-aid drink powder can be sued to create a quick lip color as well when a tiny bit is mixed with a dab of water and applied to the lips. If you would prefer a lip balm instead of a stain that is hard to remove, you can melt some Crisco or similar shortening in the microwave and mix in a little Kool-aid powder. You can store this in an empty lip balm container and take it with you.
Eyelashes: Get a little mascara in your eye or burst into tears, and you will quickly understand that mascara has chemicals you might want to avoid. Instead of mascara, use this common cooking ingredient to make a eyelash moisturizer that will make your lashes look darker and help them grow a little longer. All you need is a clean eyelash brush, a small container, and some olive oil. Keep a small amount of olive oil in a travel container and dip the brush in the oil to apply it to your lashes. Wash and dry the brush in between uses.
Body moisturizer: If it seems like lotions make your body crave more lotions, it's because they do. Petroleum found in many lotions create an artificial appearance of moisture while actually drying out your skin. Instead of spending a fortune on expensive lotions that don't work, purchase a bottle of coconut oil. Coconut oil smells wonderful, has a fat in it that fights wrinkles, and it also combats psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema, as well as other skin conditions. It also works well as a scalp moisturizer, and pre-wash oil treatment for the hair.
Hair Gel: Hair gels actually dry out the hair as they contain alcohols and other harsh ingredients. to create your spiky 'do', dissolve 1 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin in 1 cup of warm water. You can store this in the refrigerator and use as needed.
