All Natural, Earth-Friendly Skin Moisturizers

Gwendolyn Taylor
Most people turn to the usual commercialized lotion for their skin moisturizing needs. However, her are few tips on natural ingredients that are not only better and effective for you, but for the environment as well.

Olive Oil
Olive Oil is primarily known to be used as an intensive moisturizing hair mask, but it can also be used as a skin moisturizer. Olive oil can also be found in hand and body lotions, but if you want to apply olive oil in it s purest form, overnight treatment is the best way. Simply pat your hands all over with olive oil, slip on some gloves and literally get your beauty sleep.

Almond Oil
When you combine almond oil with rosewater, you come up with a moisturizer that is great for normal, dry, and sensitive skin. Since rosewater itself is also a good moisturizing agent, the combination of the two is even better. Almond oil can be found in lotions and bubble bath related products. Although not as common, it can still be found in grocery stores and health food stores.

Avocado
Avocado oil and avocado in the form of a paste can be used as intensive skin moisturizers as well. The additional plus with avocados is their natural fruit smell and buttery texture. Many mass-marketed beauty products contain avocado, but using it in its purest and all natural form is obviously the best.

Aloe Vera
The most common and recognized natural moisturizer is Aloe Vera. Any form of lotion, gel, or cream comprised of Aloe Vera contains plant-derived ingredients and is excellent for moisturizing all skin types. Aloe Vera in the gel form is the most non-greasiest formula and leaves no residue or stain. Aloe Vera based moisturizers can be found everywhere, from drugstore and health food stores to mass merchandise stores.

Other Fruits
Fruits such as apples, peaches, papayas, pumpkins, and bananas also function as skin moisturizing agents. Their juices or their blended paste forms can be used in combination with other natural ingredients such as yogurt and honey to form homemade lotions and masks.

Other natural moisturizers include shea butter, Jojoba Oil, cocoa butter, chamomile, macadamia nut oil, lanolin, and kaolin white clay.
