All Natural Headache Cures

Katie
Headaches can come on quickly and they're often caused by stress or sleep deprivation, an allergy or by not consuming enough liquids. Whatever the cause, when you get one, the first thing would want to do is get rid of it as fast as you can! Headaches can be debilitating as well as irritating.

Medicine is a last resort for me. I hate taking pills for pain, I'd much rather try an alternative form of healing first before reaching for a bottle of pills. There really are all natural pain relieving techniques that work, learn them and practice them and you will be pleased with the results.

A massage is a good, natural means of relieving headaches. You can perform them yourself, controlling the amount of pressure as well as locating exactly where the pain is. Reach behind your head and dig your fingertips gently into the base of your skull. Pull forward slightly and apply pressure with your fingertips for about 30 seconds. Release, readjust and repeat.

A temple and forehead massage is just as easy and effective. Gently tap fingertips across forehead repeatedly for 30 seconds. Next, use two fingers from each hand to massage each temple with firm but gentle pressure.

A neck massage is a wonderful headache cure. Again, wrap your hands around your neck and use your fingers to gently rub the muscles next to your spine. Massage for 30 seconds, relax and repeat.

The most effective massage technique I've found for headache elimination is the finger web massage. Using your right thumb and forefinger, massage the webbing in between your right thumb and forefinger. Dress hard, and hold for thirty seconds. You should feel some pain when you're doing this, and you're headache will be relieved in under 5 minutes time if you perform this massage correctly. When massaging the webbing, feel around for a tight, tender muscle and work that one the most.

Gatorade is another cure that works every time for me. Drinking one cup of Gatorade as quickly as I can typically reduces my pain by 90% in five minutes. You won't believe it until you try it and it works for you!

And ice pack applied to the forehead and neck is also a great relaxation technique. It's helpful if you can lie in bed and close your eyes for fifteen minutes or so while using the ice packs.

In fact, lying down can often be just the ticket for reducing a headache. Lie flat on your back and elevate your feet with a couple pillows to help reduce blood flow to your head, forcing it towards your feet. Deep breathing works well too.

If you use any combination of the above all natural techniques, you can and will cure any headache in no time, often quicker than if you took traditional headache relieving medications.
