Gwendolyn Taylor
For any cat lover like me, making sure that you provide them with the best care and good loving is a must. This includes giving the best quality food and using optimal litter that is beneficial to their overall health. Litter that is not made with synthetic or chemically-treated material plays a big factor in your cat's daily wellbeing. Using litter that is all natural is not only good for your cat, but for you as their owner, and the environment as well. Wheat cat litter and pine cat litter are the primary all natural cat litter in the market today; so which is better?

Wheat cat litter comes in a powdery to grainy form and is usually beige to tan color. The pros about this type of litter is that it clumps very well and resembles most other forms of popular mass merchandised brands litter so your cat will have an easier time adjusting. However, the cons of this type of litter is that it doesn't mask odor very well, and since it has a natural scent already, combined, the overall scent can be unpleasant after awhile. Also, since this type of litter is much finer in form, it can give off a lot of dust particles when being changed, and it can be easily tracked around the house. Since the color is so monochromatic, it can be quite obvious on flooring and carpeting if tracked around.

Pine cat litter comes in a chunky form, and almost resembles mini Lincoln Logs. Since it is so bulky, a little goes a long way in a standard litter pan, which means less money out of your pocket. The form also makes it less susceptible for tracking and literally dust-free. It absorbs well, but it does not cover well. However, because the shape is odd and differs from most other kinds of popular litter, your cat might have a more difficult time adjusting.

Both wheat and pine cat litter can be purchase at your local pet store or neighborhood mass merchandise store. They cost the same as popular brands of cat litter and actually last longer than some of the leading brands. So you have nothing to lose with all natural cat litter. You're benefiting your cat and nature.
