All is Not Lost: Season Update and Lost Spoilers
Originally, Season 4 of lost was scheduled with 16 episodes slotted to air back-to-back. When the writer's strike lingered, this original idea was scratched. While some shows, such as Fox's 24, had been scrapped altogether, ABC's Lost had 8 episodes in the can (completed), and was content to end the season at that.
