All the Right Questions

If You Don't Ask the Right Question, You May Not like the Answer You Get

I was ready to give him my answer as I walked towards the park.

He was waiting for me at the edge of the park, where we always met early in the morning before sunrise. His hair was still damp from the shower and clung to his forehead. His long dark coat hid most of his magnificient body, the traling edges swayed around his ankles in the light breeze. His gaze met mine, his dark stare making me stop as he watched me with a question in his gaze.

I knew the question, had sensed it from his several times these past mornings, but had given no answer and he did not seem to mind. I smiled and walked coser to him. He merely watched me, tall, dark and handsome. My hand brushed his face, his eyes closing for a moment as he took in my scent, his nostrils flaring. The park was slowly becoming lighted from the sun but it had not reached us yet. He nibbled my fingertips, then moved in close and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer to him in a soft embrace.

I stroked his long damp hair, and felt his teeth gently nibbling my neck. He looked into my eyes, silently asking the question again. I answered by smiling, letting my hands pull his mouth back to my neck and sighing into his ear. I had not expected the white hot searing pain as he brushed his lips over my neck. I started feeling dizzy and he wrapped me more closely to him, I could neither fall or escape from his embrace, secure in his arms but scared that he wouldn't stop before it was too late.

I grabbed at his head as the darkness began to wash over me, my body frozen in fear, but he was so strong and he did not stop or even register my cries. His teeth, the same teeth that had just a while ago, nibbled at my neck were now dripping with my blood from where he was biting me. His fangs piercing the flesh in my neck as I swallowed another gasp when he sunk his fangs in deeper.

"Why" I groaned with my last breath.

His fangs momentarily left my neck, "I never said you would live through this."

I heard him laugh and then felt a searing pain as his fangs settled back on my neck.
