All Saints Day Party Games: Saints Scavenger Hunt and Riddle Guessing Games

Marilisa Kinney Sachteleben
Planning an All Saints Day party or party after All Saints Eve mass? Here are several free printable party games. I've written several variations of an All Saints Scavenger Hunt and Riddle Game. Print these clues for your All Saints Party. This can be as easy or as complicated as you'd like. One way is to request adult All Saints party goers to dress as certain saints. Each child is given a list of clues or riddles about the saint. When the child thinks that he can match the clue to the saint, he asks the person representing the saint. If he is correct, the saint signs his scavenger hunt game. This game is best played with 10-15 saints represented.

Here are some clues or riddles for saints:

I was a tentmaker before I became a Christian. (St. Paul)
My name means 'rock'. (St. Peter)
I was the first Christian martyr. (St. Stephen)
My eyes were put out because I refused to denounce my faith. (St. Lucy)
I was the first North American saint. (Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha)
My sister was St. Scholastica (St. Benedict)
My brother was St. Benedict. (St. Scholastica)
I led an army when I was only 13. (St. Joan of Arc)
I am the mother of Constantine, the first Christian Roman emperor (St. Helen of the Cross)
I gave my coat to a beggar. (St. Martin of Tours)
I am a South American bi-racial saint. (St. Martin de Porres)
I tended slaves that came in on the slave ships. (St. Peter Claver)
I was a missionary to Japan. (St. Francis Xavier)
I was a solder and son of a wealthy merchant. I gave this up to follow Jesus. (St. Francis of Assisi)
I was sold into slavery in Ireland and returned to bring Christianity (St. Patrick)
I was a bishop of Myra in the 4th century. You may know me for other things. (St. Nicholas)
I saw a vision of our lady at Lourdes. (St. Bernadette)
I saw a vision of Our Lady on a hill in Mexico. (Bl. Juan Diego)
I am one of three children to who Our Lady of Fatima appeared. (St. Lucia, Jacinta, Francisco)
I appeared to a young girl in the town dump in a city in France. (Our Lady of Lourdes)
I cared for untouchables in Calcutta India. (Bl. Mother Theresa)
I am known as 'the Little Flower'. (St. Therese of Lisieux)

Another way is to place images, picture clues or symbols for each saint, around the church, outdoor area or meeting area. Children must match the saint and his or her symbol. Here are some saints' symbols:

St. Peter: staff, rock
St. Joseph: baby, carpenters tools
St. Therese of Lisieux: pink roses
Bl. Juan Diego: red roses
St. Patrick: clover, snake
St. Bernadette: holy water
St. Francis of Assisi: bird
St. Helen: cross
St. Benedict/ St. Scholastica: books
St. Lucy: eyes on a platter
St. Veronica: cloth with image of Jesus
Our Lady of Guadalupe: moon and stars
St. Nicholas: 3 gold balls, bag of gold
St. George: sword
Sacred Heart of Jesus: heart, thorns
Immaculate Heart of Mary: heart with sword
St. Martin of Tours: sword, horse, cloak
St. Joan of Arc: helmet, shield
