All Shapes and Sizes

Kathryn Neff Perry
In a darkened room, I pulled two socks out of the drawer and stuck them in the pocket of my sweatshirt. I have to admit, I'm a creature of habit.
We are blessed to have a programmable coffee-pot. I make the coffee the night before and I the aroma of fresh coffee awakens me about 6:30 every morning. Before I bring the paper inside, I fix my husbands coffee with just the right amounts of flavored creamer and sweetener. I stick it in the microwave, where it sits until he wakes up.
My toes are very cold before I finally sit down to read my Bible and pray. But knowing those socks are in my pocket reminds me, in just a minute my toes will be warm again.
When I pulled the socks out of my pocket this morning I realized they weren't mates. However, I pulled them on anyway, and they worked.
I'm reminded that even though the socks are different they warmed my feet. Just like the many friends I have. Each of them is unique in his or her on right, but they warm my heart.
I'm so blessed to have the friends I do. I also realized yesterday when I needed help with a project, just which two friends would be the perfect mates for that project. They don't "match" but they both prayed for me yesterday.
Blessings, and friends, come in all shapes and sizes. I'm so thankful for each and every one of you.
