Alligator Annie

A Poem for a Small Paws Rescued Dog Who Escaped into the Everglades!

L. Lee Scott
Alligator Annie's not an alligator, mean,
She's a 4-legged fluff, she's a Bichon Queen!

She survived the hell of puppy mill til Small Paws saved her life,
Then ran into the Everglades, misunderstanding strife.

For many months we searched for her, our fluffy little dog,
With traps and darts and decoy dogs, and treats inside a log.

Until that day the bad news came, a fatal Annie sighting,
Two golfers saw a fluffy white with alligator fighting!

Tho' some would then have given up, conceded she was gone,
Small Pawsers all from coast to coast continued to search on.

And while we searched we also prayed that God would bring her home
Like a sparrow Annie strayed but He'd never let her roam.

And like a miracle one day, a lady driving by
Saw Annie coming out to play, and stopped her car to cry.

Annie hesitated first, shy, from home alone,
But she jumped right in the woman's car when she saw the bone!

Now Annie has a forever-home and never again will stray,
And Small Pawsers from coast to coast gave thanks for that great day.

We know, you see, that our Creator loves us, big or small,
And if His eye is on the sparrow, well, It's surely on us all.

And Alligator Annie's not an alligator, mean,
She's a Small Paws Fluff and a Bichon Queen!

Very sweet poem. They are such cute dogs but tend to chase preditors as bid as or bigger then they are. Our neighbors chased a fox into the woods. To make the matter worse she had a leash and collar on. Luckily my neice and I found her.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWww she is precious and what an inspirational story about how God does have his eye on the smallest of creatures. I am so glad she has you.

Small paw Annie sure deserves a toast of ice cold Gatorade for her spunk! May your Leilani be a bit less adventurous, Laurel! ;o)
