All-Inclusive in Antigua Means Luxury

Exclusively Inclusive with a La Carte Dining

Karen Reams
The term all-inclusive when attached to a vacation package can bring terrible images of long buffet lines, Vegas-style night time entertainment or loud pool games. This may be the case in some destinations but not in Antigua.

In Antigua All-inclusive hotels are almost all four and five star hotels. In fact, all across Antigua luxury all-inclusives are offering guaranteed package prices with very few additional costs whilst maintaining high end services which include gourmet food and drink and luxury room amenities.

Hermitage bay

This resort is one of Antigua's newer resorts and is also one of the smallest with just 25 individual cottages. Needless to say the Hermitage Bay offers an ultra private, high-end escape which is perfect for honeymooners and any others who wish to leave the world behind. There are 8 beach cottages with a walk out access to the sandy beach and turquoise sea and the remaining cottages are set in the hillside giving fantastic views of the bay and offering plunge pools and sunbathing decks.

Each cottage regardless if it is beach or hillside has its own verandah and outdoor shower, as well as flat screen TVs, DVD players, iPod docking stations and wireless internet access.

For guests staying more than 3 nights they are offered a complimentary 30-minute massage at its brand new spa.

Rates at the Hermitage bay start at $700 per suite per night dbl.

Elite Island Resorts

Here you will find no pressure to 'join' in. If you wish to be energetic and play volley ball then you can but you will not have chirpy games directors going round encouraging people to get up and play as you can do in some all-inclusive resorts. You do whatever you want.

The Elite Islands Resort's newest property is The Verandah Resort and Spa. This is a family friendly resort with 200 suites each with a master bedroom with a king sized bed, a spacious living room and pull out sleeping arrangements for the youngsters.

Parents will enjoy the fact that this resort has a kid's club which boasts a wading pool and jungle gyms.

There are three different restaurants to choose from: the family friendly Buccaneer, the beachside, open air Sea breeze and Nicole's.

A stay at The Verandah Resort and Spa starts at $620 per room per night.

If you wish for something a little more upscale then Elite Islands Resorts also has the Galley Bay. This is a more intimate resort which honeymooners will love. The accommodations comprise of Tahitian style cottages and plunge pools and beachfront suites that were newly built in 2008. The dining here is superb with an extensive wine list for wine lovers.

A stay at Galley bay starts at $965 per room per night.

Jumby Bay

Jumby Bay, a Rosewood resort is one of Antigua's most upscale properties. Set on a private island the Jumby bay is far from the stereotypical all-inclusive. No buffets here...it is a la carte dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus afternoon tea.

Here you will find it is not just the inclusiveness that guests enjoy but its luxury amenities such as plunge pools and outdoor bathtubs in Jumby bay's upscale suites.

The resort boasts a freshwater pool that is lined with cushy cabanas and the spa offers a host of beauty and massage services.

To add to the luxury of all this a private dinner in-suite or on the beach is just a concierge call away.

At Jumby Bay villa rates start at $2,500 per night for a 2-bedroom villa with double occupancy per bedroom.
