Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert's Duet About as Good as it Gets on May 5 American Idol

Gerald McConway
While the world was waiting to see what Adam Lambert was going to do on Rock Night, there was a considerable fan base that was looking past that to see what the designated Rock Queen of the show was going to pull off to compete with him. While the judge's reviews were not that emphatic, I have to disagree in that I thought she had the second best performance of the night and that she fell nicely into Janice Joplin's Cry Baby.

Allison has been a rock n roll girl from day one and while she has at times struggles with some of the other genre's, she has always stayed true to herself and tried to adapt the song to her style versus the other way around. She has a very lusty, soulful voice and she made great use of it during this song.

Her case was helped during her duet with Adam as it was easily the second best performance of the night. With Danny and Kris laying an egg on their duet and individual performances, it is going to be hard to justify doing anything but allowing her to move on to the next show.

The bottom line here is that this is the time of the season where song choice and performances have to be at their best. Allison gave the same quality performance that she has been giving for weeks now while some of the others had absolutely horrible weeks. I would imagine that the voting on the bottom three is going to be very tight, but she should get pushed through to the next week.

Assuming that she stays, the next 2 weeks should be very entertaining. This is not the same girl that hit the stage in week one. Her performances and confidence continue to improve each and every week and her support continues to grow. She is going to give Adam all he can handle down the stretch.

Adam is and has been in a leaque of his own. His performance last night was nothing less than stellar, and his duet with Allison was absolutely fantastic.

Adam was AMAZING last night! Not only was he amazing he answered his critics, with the help of Gokey, and showed us the difference between screaming and singing. Everybody can now stop saying that Adam screams... If you want to know what a scream sounds like just listen to Danny killing (and I mean that in a bad murdering chalk outline kind of way) the poor innocent song Dream On. That is screaming. You know it. It was bad. Yuck. My ears were bleeding. His fans know it too. I am sorry but there is a difference between screaming and Rock N Roll. We saw that difference last night. Vote for the Worst pick Danny Gokey = screaming. Adam Lambert = Rock N Roll.
