Allison Iraheta Brings Another Original Twist on the April 7 American Idol

Allison Iraheta is an absolute joy to watch and one of the performers you look forward to each and every week. It has been said before and I will say it again: it is a shame that she did not wait a year or two to compete because she just is not polished enough to go up against the likes of Adam, Kris and Danny. She will give Matt a run for his money, but he is going to have to have a bad day and she is going to have to be on.

Allison had an off week last week, but came back well with 'I can't make you love me'. It is a heart wrenching song, but she added her little twist to it and it became sultry and extremely enjoyable. This kid is loaded with chops and will be one of the top five of the season.

The judges have said on many an occasion that this kid is going to get a contract. It is amazing that she has not lost touch with reality with such lofty compliments from the judges. The one short coming to Allison though is that she is very inconsistent. There are a couple of performers that are going to go out before her, but when it comes down to her and Matt, she is going to have to have a perfect week to beat him.

She is quickly becoming one of the performers that you look forward to each week and you just hope that she is on because when she is, she consistently lands in the top half of the week. The challenge is that the number of performers is shrinking and Danny and Adam seem to be firing on all cylinders right now. Matt made a nice comeback and you would expect Kris to come back strong after this week's bomb.

Here's to hoping that we can keep her around for as long as possible because she is one of the few competitors that will make each and every week her own. Be it or good or bad, she is an original.

I have to agree that Allison is the one I most look forward to watching.

I think she's way better than Matt.

I am always glad to hear from other Allison Fans.

I must however respectfully disagree with a couple of your assertions.

She is absolutely one of the most polished performers on idol this year.

She has been working on the stage for years and it shows. This girl knows how to work the stage and the mic. She also does this while singing in tune.

I have seen but one awkward moment from her while performing. She didn't seem quite sure about getting the guitar out of the way during her performance of "Don't Speak". I think using the guitar was a tactical error.

She has consistently chosen good if not great songs and consistently performed them in the fashion that is purely and uniquely Allison.

I believe the only criticisms uttered by any of the judges were of her clothes and personality. In other words there has been nothing up to this point to criticize.

Unlike some people I quickly realized she was the one for me to look forward to watching every week.
