Let's just say that Allison Iraheta has blossomed and just listening to her songs on "Just Like You" debut album gives me the feeling that she will be a huge huge star. Her vocals are very strong yet sometimes raspy. But she can also reach the high notes needed for the majority of high selling pop singles. Her first single is a little gimmicky and strictly falls under the pop genre. It crosses a little into new wave and tech pop but certainly settles into pop nicely. It's kind of a cheeleader anthem song that may be a little too girly for some. But many young girls will enjoy the Britney Spears type dance song. It flows well and Allison Iraheta certainly knows how to fit her voice into a song in a smooth manner.
The 5th cut on Allison Iraheta's debut album is called "Scars". It's a slow burning song that fully utilizes her raspy, hard cutting vocals. Allison sometimes sounds like Allanis Morrisette and then sometimes channels Kelly Clarkson. "Scars" is a tear jerker that could be really huge and perhaps the biggest song from Allison Iraheta's debut album. Allison's lyrics on the song seem fitting for a teenager wanting to break onto the music scene with lines like "Do you know how hard I've tried to become what you want me to be". While it's hard pressed to imagine that Allison Iraheta has been through the things an adult have, the lyrics will certainly resonate with young teens who feel as if the world is coming down on them. She'll hit some chords with the youth of America and her new album will benefit from the teen audience and college kids.
"No One Else" is another slow starting song that utilizes the raspy, fully charged voice of Allison Iraheta. She utilizes her voice somehow managing to make every song very listenable. It's catchy and I think this could be the second biggest hit of her new debut album. She holds the notes well and rocks it out. Simon Cowell would be proud once he listens to this Allison Iraheta song.
"You Don't Know Me" is a fast moving song that finishes up the debut album for Allison Iraheta. It starts with a strong beat and finishes fast. It sounds very familiar to a typical Kelly Clarkson hit song. The producers have certainly set up Allison Iraheta for a string of back to back to back hits on her "Just Like You" debut album.
It's not music that will blow you away but every song is fun and just plain and simple good music. That's what really matters anyway and I think Allison Iraheta has captured the fun with her first album "Just Like You".
