Allison Iraheta Puts it in Overdrive on April 14 American Idol

Allison Iraheta is one of the contestants on the show whom you wait to see every week. There are several reasons why, one of them being that you just don't know what she is going to bring. Well this week she brought it and will have an easy night's rest knowing she will not be on one of those stools on Wednesday Night.

Allison took a huge chance with her song choice, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." I say this because it is always difficult for a woman to try and sing a song that was made famous by a man and likewise for a male to sing a female artist song. We have already seen this quite a few times during the season and it has been pulled off very few times.

One thing was quite apparent when she started singing on Tuesday night; this girl was loaded with confidence and ready to show it to the world. Her lusty voice was perfect for this song and it came through with a ton of passion and was easily one of the best performances of the evening. To be honest, a lot of the people that were initially favorites are starting to fall off and she continues to step up and accept the spotlight.

The one thing that Allison has continued to improve upon is her stage presence. I am the first one to admit that I wish she had waiting another year or two to become more polished and have said it in several previous reviews. However, with her improvements each week, she is proving that she belongs on that stage. I don't think she will catch up to Adam Lambert in the next few weeks, but she will definitely pass a few of the others along the way.
