All-pro Football 2k8 Review (PS3)

S.R.
All-pro football 2k8 is a football video game released on Playstation 3, developed by Visual Concepts.

Story : There's no real story here, and there shouldn't be. It's a football game. I suppose if you wanted you could believe you were role playing as part of the time. You'd have be a pretty hardcore fan though. Anyway, the meat of this game is the game play, so let's move on.

Graphics : The graphics in this game are stunning. Beautifully drawn, beautifully animated, and a huge variety. Everything here will bring a goofy grin to your face. Excellence all around, all the people who made the graphics in this game deserve a hearty pat on the back. There's no lack of detail here, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better football game graphically than this one.

Sound : There isn't much to say here. It's generic, run in the mill football game music though that isn't necessarily bad per se. There's nothing here that is too annoying, and that's the important part. The music has a good variety and it fits well. The sound effects are passable and there's lots to be heard here. Overall the game is a good presentation, sound wise and gets some respect for it.

Game play : The controls in this game are good. Very responsive and smooth. This is important, but football games don't really require a large degree of control anyway so the fact that it's good is important. Game play wise, the game plays like every other football game to come out in the last few years. So, if you haven't played a football game in awhile you might find this a very engaging experience. Otherwise, it's the same old stuff here and you're better off sticking with your older game.

The game has many customization options for teams, which are fun at first but get fairly old after awhile. Unlocking hidden features in this game is a real chore and is quite boring. Unless you're a die hard football fan you'll probably be aggravated with the limited amount of things you can access. Making a play book is fun and there's lots to offer on that end.

Re playability : Well, the customization options are very good. But, you'd think they would give a lot of re playability and the truth is they don't. The unlock ables should offer playability but once again, they're mostly just mind numbing. Re playability depends on how big a football fan you are, basically. If you really love football you'll probably love this game and play it a lot.

Overall : 6/10. A solid game with some issues. There's better football games out there, but this one could be fun if you don't have one already.
