Some rules exist for success in stock trades, but their profitable outcomes are not always guaranteed. They are conditioned by time and other elements. The experience gained during the past trades serves a purpose and provides confidence in dealings.
Recession questioned the wisdom of market experts. More care is needed in the creation of an investment portfolio. Out of your portfolio of say, ten shares nine may be perfect. But one share has the capacity to pull the rug and make an investor tumble. Market volatility may strike the share of a particular company viciously and the profit calculations may go hay wire. Still, an investor trades with a hope. Some of the tips that need to be kept in the mind to fructify that hope are:
- Time the market well. This is an art perfected by observation and experience. Take the advice of your broker if you are strongly inclined to invest in a particular share at a particular time.
- There are some recession-proof blue chip companies and cash cows. Identify them and keep a watch on the movements of shares of such companies.
- Make a detailed study about the upcoming segments of industry like the energy sector presently. Technological advances may reverse the situation in no time. Experts prescribe a limit of 20% per industry. This can be applied by the standards of geographical area.
- No expert can indemnity you against losses. Welcome various options and suggestions but take your own decision. You are investing your money.
- Rely on the fundamentals, like the outcomes of fundamental and technical analysis, than concentrating on astrology which may land you in trouble.
- As a rule, shun penny stocks. They are generally promoted by the vested interests operating in the stock exchange, by forming syndicates to attract the gullible investors.
- Every investing issue has multiple-choice answers. Remain a learner and constantly update your methodology of investment, in the light of experience gained.
- Take lessons from the masters, who have achieved astonishing profits through stock investments. Their calculations cannot be wrong. They have expertise, a well-trained staff and access to latest technology. A common investor can not invest in information infrastructure on such a big scale.
- Yellow journalism is part of the stock exchange. Take note about the hype created for certain companies. Companies that finance growth from own profits can be considered as strong.
- Develop expertise to scrutinize the financial statements. Sometimes wide gaps exist between the declared and actual stories. Watch the cash flow that is coming in.
