This event will have 28 local artists and vendors selling their arts and crafts to the public. There will be soap makers, jewelry, print art and many other styles of arts and crafts. Each booth is individually run by the artist or vendor and a portion of the proceeds of this event will go to Turning Wheels for Kids, a local program that helps underprivileged kids receive bicycles throughout the year. This wonderful program also repairs kids' current bikes and teaches the kids how to maintain them. Children learn the parts of the bikes, how to repair them and overall maintenance to keep their bikes in working order and keep them riding, and off the streets. If you would like to learn more about Turning Wheels for Kids and their mission, go to their website.
Local vineyards Charles Usher Vineyards, Perrucci Family Vineyard, Poetic Cellars, and Jazz Cellars Winery, will have tastings available on-site. Donated bottles from other vineyards will be available for tasting as well. $15 will get you an etched commemorative wine glass that includes two 1-ounce pours. They also offer a full glass for $5.
Come out and enjoy the festival with friends and family. My mom and many of her artist friends will have booths selling their paintings. Remember that proceeds from the inaugural Almaden Valley Athletic Club Art and Wine Festival go to Turning Wheels for Kids. In other words, local money spent on this local event will help local children in need. If this year is success then we may see it again next year, too.
If you are interested in participating in the Almaden Valley Athletic Club Art and Wine Festival or if you have any questions, please contact Becky Smothermon (408) 445-4919.

Post a Comment..I caught that date disparity..I see AC didn't improve w/publishing the upfronts. Glad it was a wonderful event and thanks for including the Turning Wheels for Kids links
AASE's painting is just beautiful! I also think you should write a follow up article, and then maybe another one for next year's event. Great write up however!
Great article Karen. I had my paintings on for SHOW and for sale. It was a very nice day, many people came and enjoyed the art & wine festival.
Karen, I agree with Abby, follow it up with a great success story!! Sorry it took so long to publish it!
Why don't you write a follow-up article now that its over!
This was submitted on 9/23/10 in plenty of time for the event. I am sorry to say it was just published today, 10/06/2010. I went to the event and it was wonderful. I hope this event was a success and they do it again next year. If you have time, please check out the links to Turning Wheels for Kids that are imbedded in the article. Thanks!
