Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara Can Deliver the Drama

Or Look Perfectly Natural Too

Charlotte Kuchinsky
I have difficulty when it comes to finding a good mascara. That is because I don't have very many lashes and what I do have are baby fine, thin and sparse.

However, one of my favorites has always been Almay's One Coat Mascara. I find myself reaching for that particular one when it is time to make another purchase.

Recently; however, I noticed a different Almay One Coat variety called Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara. It said that the new adjustable dial would allow me to customize my look. That sounded like something I would like. It would give the option for a regular daytime look or I could pump up the volume for drama. Consequently, I decided to give it a try.

Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara makes additional claims. It promises to:

Separate and define each lash;
Provide volume, volume and more volume;
Go on evenly and easily; and
Remain clump free.

But does the product live up to those claims? Let's take a look.

What supposedly sets this mascara apart from its competitors is the dial up technology that allows you to customize your look. As the customer, you can choose 1 for a soft, full lash; 2 for more density and volume or 3 to achieve ultimate drama.

To test the theory, I tried the 1 setting on one eye and setting 3 on the other. There was some difference between the two settings, but it was not significant with a single coat. The more coats I applied; however, the more significant the difference.

This mascara definitely delivers a great coating that makes lashes look full, lush, thick and voluminous. One is definitely a daytime look while 2 is transitional and 3 is for nighttime. Therefore, I give Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara only 4 out of 5 stars on its dial up claim. It delivers, although maybe not as dramatically as one might expect.

Just like its regular One Coat Mascara, Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara does indeed separate and define every lash. Best of all, it does it without making lashes look fake or overly done. It deserves 5 out 5 stars on this claim.

When it comes to volume, Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara delivers. It is easy to apply multiple coats to get a thick lash look without any of the dreaded spider eye. That's what I really love about Almay mascara. It gets 5 out of 5 stars once again.

Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara appears to have a slightly different formula from its standard One Coat brand. Nonetheless, the mascara goes on easily and evenly. It doesn't matter if you are using one or five coats, the look will be authentic. That earns it another 5 out of 5 stars.

Almay mascara is relatively clump-free. I don't believe any mascara can make a 100% guarantee, but this one comes as close as any I have seen. It deserves 5 out 5 stars.

That means Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara gets 24 out of a possible 25 stars, for a 4.4 star rating. That's pretty good any way you look at it.

I like this mascara. The fact that it is hypoallergenic is a huge bonus because I have sensitive eyes.

Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara comes in three colors. These include black brown, black and blackest black. One tube consists of .22 fl. oz. It retails for around $9 at most discount department and drug stores. It is slightly higher at most grocery stores. I found mine at Dollar Tree for just $1.

RATING SCALE:

5 stars - outstanding
4 stars - good
3 stars - average
2 stars - below average
1 star - poor

    Sounds like a nice product. I love wearing eye makeup. It is the only way I can get my eyes to pop.

    Thanks for the product review. I have the opposite problem to you. I have too many eyelashes and they curl up at the end a bit, so I do not need to apply as much mascara. If I do, I look like I have spiders hanging from my eyes!
