Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect, on the Upper Eyelashes, but Disappointing on the Lower Ones
Review of Shade 502 (Black)
I have been reasonably happy with the waterproof version, and also the lengthening one, so really wanted to try the 'triple effect'.
First off I looked to see why it is called 'triple effect', and it states on the back of the packaging: "3 looks in one coat for 100% pure impact - fuller, longer, curvier".
So it came out of the packaging. and it is a good looking mascara. The casing it white, and it has silver colored bands around it, and silver colored writing.
I had my Estee Lauder 'More than Mascara' in black, and the new Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect in front of me.
I first used the Estee Lauder mascara on my left eyelashes. It turned them from brown to black, and they were slightly fuller.
Then I unscrewed the Almay One Coat Mascara, and the wand has a one inch brush on the end. It is straight, and doesn't have a smaller end, like some mascaras do. I opened my right eye, and applied the mascara to my upper eyelashes. It went on very easily. When it came to doing the lower ones, I did have trouble with the brush being so thick. I really didn't get a lot of mascara on them, as I knew if I went closer, I would put the mascara underneath my eyelashes, and create a mess.
I then went up to the large mirror, and check both eyes. The Almay came up trumps for the upper eyelashes. My lashes looked thicker, very slightly longer, and did have a slight curl to them. When it came to the lower lashes, there was no difference between the Estee Lauder, and the Almay mascaras.
This mascara stayed on well, and I didn't have any smudging with it. I used my Estee Lauder 'take the day off' remover at night, and it removed it.
Almay state that the mascara has aloe and vitamin B5 for conditioning of the eyelashes. It is hypoallergenic, and also suitable for people that wear contact lenses.
I have mixed feelings about this mascara. On the packaging it tells you to use the thicker part of the brush for lengthening, and then the shorter bristles for extra fullness. I don't know whether it is just my brush, but the bristles look the same length all the way down. With many other mascaras I have, and that must be about 40 now, you can easily see the narrow bristles on the end of the brush.
I was able to buy the Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect, 0.27 fluid ounce (7.9 ml) for $1, in the Dollar Tree store. At this price it is excellent value, but if I had been paying around $7 for it, then I wouldn't have purchased it again.
For great upper lashes use the Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect, but don't expect the lower lashes to be any different than average.

Post a CommentNo smudging? really? Cool! I have like 4 tubes of varying brands right now that I really need to review. They suck bad. I'll look for this one before I shell out the 25 smackers for my lovely Dior Show again then.
I never do the lower because I have so few so this mascara works great for me.
Another good report.
