Almost Recovered

Hopefully a Poem

Louisa Burgess
The journey is almost over
it's taking longer than I thought
the urge to write has returned
if only a topic could be bought

Recovering from this epidemic disease
was harder than I could imagine
sleepless nights and tired days
my brain numbed and spirits shaken

With energy used for positive thinking
I trudged through my daily life
fatigued, moody and thoughtless to others
contributing to everyone's strife

What could I write about
concentrating wasn't easy then or now
could I make people smile again
would my opinion count somehow

One day my hair started falling out
I could be funny about that
search my feelings or chronicle this trip
I've tried but it turns out flat

Now I'm almost recovered
seven months for the veil to lift
my body and my mind will never be the same
but it's time again to use my gift

And P.S. - the advertisements are running rampant over everything. I hate it.

Louisa! I had no idea you'd gone thru this! Sometime in December due to an AC glitch, I was "unsubscribed" from everyone. It was terrible trying to remember who to sign back up with, and find them. I only knew you were back by seeing a comment from you on someone's page today. Hope you have a great re-bound.

Thank you all. Hey is it just me or has anyone made any official complaint about the way these advertisements totally screw up a poem? It's hard for me to even look at, and it pauses the flow.

Welcome home... I have missed you, too!! I think somehow every ounce of energy in your body needed to be used for healing and now you can divert some of it to creative expression.

Welcome back, although I myself have been gone for a while, I think I might follow your path and once again return.
