Aloe Vera Uses

Heaven Lee
Aloe Vera is a plant that looks a lot like a cactus, although it is actually a member of the lily family. Often publicized as the "medicine plant of the 21st century," Aloe Vera is also recognized by a lot of other names, such as Barbados Aloe, Curacao Aloe, Zanzibar, Socotrine, and Cape.

The Aloe Vera plant is made up of a high percentage (almost 96%) of water. The rest of the plant contains essential oils, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, glycoproteins, and enzymes. Aloe Vera is quite often used for a number of liquid health therapies in combination with other plants and herbs. When made with the juices of the plant, the liquid medication can be very calming and soothing to the digestive system, and thus can help a lot of digestive problems, such as colitis and peptic ulcers.

Uses of Aloe Vera Liquids and Properties

Cathartic

A cathartic is something that supports the correct movement of the bowels, but you often get cramps with it. When Aloe Vera is used as a cathartic, it is usually combined with an antispasmodic for the softening benefits that you can receive.

Emollient

An emollient is a skin cover or an ointment that is put on topically to soften, soothe or protect your skin. Aloe Vera is outstanding when it is used for this purpose. It also improves the appearance of your skin and assists in fighting off the obvious signs of aging.

Purgative

Aloe Vera juice is sometimes used as a purgative, (laxative), which brings about a watery evacuation of the bowels. Anyone who needs to soften their stools or if they suffer from recurrent constipation can benefit from the use of an Aloe Vera liquid.

Vulnerary

Aloe Vera has been used in a lot of studies and shown to have a quite positive impact on healing wounds and burns, as well as avoiding blister formation. A vulnerary is any type of first aid that is administered to skin or wound abrasions, such as scratches, small cuts and insect bites.

The healing power that is intrinsic in Aloe Vera comes from the fact that the herb makes it possible for superior levels of oxygen to reach the surface of the skin. The extra charge of oxygen is then able to help mend and reinforce the skin's connective tissues in a rapid manner.

Aloe Vera Liquids and Injuries

If you have an Aloe Vera plant in your home, you are a smart person. If you burn or cut yourself all you have to do is cut or break off one of the leaves of the plant. The juice from the plant will run easily out of the plant. You can then apply it to your injury for relief.

Aloe Vera liquid is quite useful after a patient has had surgery because it helps to prevent the development of scar tissue on the inside of the body where the incision has been made. Liquid Aloe Vera can be applied to the incision several times while you are in recovery. The incision will heal more quickly and you will have less scar formation.

If you aren't excited about the liquid form, you can order the Aloe Vera pill, which is called Aloeride and you will experience the health benefits of this wonderful plant.
