Alona Bondarenko is not a well known name in tennis, currently ranking only 23rd on the world status list. The issue though, is this ad by K-Swiss for shoes and clothing that features this long-haired blonde Barbie Doll looking Alona, in an unnatural looking sexy pose, napping peacefully in skimpy tennis clothing in the middle of a busy looking tennis court.
What is K-Swiss thinking? It doesn't take any brains to know what the men are thinking while looking at this sexy picture, so I won't go there. To me, poor Alona Bondarenko is laying there looking like a little girl's forgotten Barbie doll that will not catch the child's attention again for another few weeks. So lost...
If K-Swiss is trying to hint to me that I need to remember to get some clothes onto this Barbie doll sometime over the next few weeks, or that their place might be a great place to shop for female Barbie doll clothing, they've missed their mark.
My playtime is all booked-up for the month of April each year, and there's no time for me to pose or dress my Barbie dolls while tending to my homework assignment from the government that is due on April 15th. Then, after April 15th, I will be scurrying around trying to catch-up on my daily assignments that were tossed into a corner so that I could get my government taxes done by the 15th. April is such a pain; I hate paperwork.
Well, I suppose that if K-Swiss wants all of the females who shop for their items offended, they've accomplished their goal. I personally am not offended by any Barbie dolls that get left out on a tennis court by mistake, but I can see how others are going to be screaming about all of those poor little girls who don't have any Barbie dolls to play with at all. We need to take care of our dolls! That's what my Mom always said.
I wonder where the Ken doll is laying. Nobody has a Barbie playing tennis without a Ken doll batting the ball back to her; Barbie and Ken are an item, and we all know that. Barbie and Ken were the early 1960's first live-together couple on the market available to quietly tell all children what their future was to be like. Barbie needed a paycheck to buy her own clothing, and Ken would come visit the children someday if she was lucky.
Which brings up a very good point; why are the American Ken's staring at this dolls belly button on a Monday afternoon instead of working to pay those bills? Doesn't K-Swiss understand that our country comes complete with many responsible people who look at frivolous ads as a complete waste of scarce resources; this belly button can't possibly sell us a pair of shoes. And, this ad is pretty wimpy in adult entertainment value compared to other things out there.
Oh well, I suppose that I did get a little something out of this Barbie Doll picture of Alona Bondarenko; the slogan 'Keep It Pure' makes me giggle while thinking of their ad department stuck for creative ideas late on a Friday afternoon. This sexy ad that isn't working is probably named after the ad department's first item on their clients want list. Poor Alona, it might take forever for this serious athlete to live this one down.
