Alone

Worked my way up the corporate ladder

Dated around from time to time

All the while being asked why I am single

I comforted myself with the answer that maybe God had plans for me

That I hadn't achieved.

There were things left for me to do

But now I'm beginning to wonder

If there are still things left to accomplish

Of if there is something wrong with me

Why am I still single?

What else does He want me to do

that I couldn't share with someone?

Why must I be alone to figure things out?

Other people have settled down

and done great things with their life

and still I am all alone

seeking new goals

searching for things to accomplish

waiting for the next stage to begin

looking around for ways to invent myself anew

all by myself.
