Before there was you
there was me
alone and contemplating
what if there were no you?
There were others
but they faded into memory
like last nights dinner
or yesterdays walk into town.
Alone and contemplating,
where is the love?
how will my heart survive
the loneliness of existence?
who will come to my rescue
to save my soul,
comfort and annoint,
satisfy and redeem,
share and care,
and bring love to a lonely heart?
Before there was you,
there was me
alone and contemplating.
