Alone for the Holidays

Celebrating by Yourself

Tussy
No, not necessarily on the "Home Alone," the movie, concept. More like you're alone, due to necessity not by accident, and maybe you are not home but somewhere else away from home.

When the foregoing happens, you can be alone, but not lonely, and enjoying your own company.

There is a certain kind of freedom that comes from being by yourself. For one, there is no one you have to consult and whose agreement you need to have to get things done.

In the instant that you end up as a solo reveler during the holidays, here is a dozen suggestions so you can enjoy being alone:

1. Treat yourself to a shopping-and-theater blowout of sort.

2. Have your favorite decadent meal in front of the television set and savor every morsel.

3. Read a book.

4.Phone a friend who can make you laugh.

5. Start an on-line Journal.

6. Do the task you have been putting off, such as selling your ex husband's solid gold cuff link on-line.

7. Do something good for others

8. Take a long walk and try to view the things you see in a whole new way

9. Find the tallest building of the place where you are and (no, dont jump!) fly a paper airplane with a peace message.

10.Have a party for one and indulged in whatever makes you feel pampered. Go ahead be a little selfish and please only yourself.

11.Write a poem about being alone for a change. The funniest verses sometimes comes from the pens of the non-poet.

12. Pray! Maybe for all the things you've got going for you, that's what you haven't got, a prayer.

If and when, for some reasons, you find yourself with only you for company, try to enjoy. It is well worth trying.
