It is an adverb turned into a noun
It is a "thing"
A state of being you can reach out and feel
We feel lonely, we are feeling lonely, we have a lonely feeling, we are lonely
We also look lonely
In that case it's an adjective
Am I lonely?
Not at the moment but I can be
Lonely for different people, things or situations
Actually that is longing
A different thing all together
But not really
What is lonely?
Lonely can be a lack of people
Aloneness
It can also be a void
A void is definitely a thing
When you feel lonely can you change it?
Some people never feel lonely
Although they are alone
Some people always feel lonely
Even in a crowd
Loneliness is something to think about
And be grateful you don't have.

Post a CommentWow; instead of a poem about loneliness (being lonely) it's a poem about loneiness (the word loneliness.) Ingenious!
Thoughtful :) Sheri
I'm with Bat... alone=good, lonely=bad. With AC, though, one always has friends, even if they are just avatars : ) Great poem!!
Wonderful portrayal of finer sentiments.
Nice poem!
Your poem is very thought provoking and very real. I like your style of writing. Very, very nice job.
I can find plenty of ways to occupy myself, so I am happy alone, but this translates into loneliness, sometimes, if I haven't bothered to make much contact with my friends or family. They definitely are very different states, though!
I like this, but the ending left me hanging.........and lonely.
