Alta Strada at MGM Grand at Foxwoods
An Excellent Dining Choice for Those Seeking Fine Italian Cuisine
The prices are not outrageous at Alta Strada and I have found that the overall dining experience is worth what you pay for it.
There's no dress code and guests run the spectrum from jeans and t-shirts to dresses and suits. On our visits we've dressed up a bit, if only to partake in the fine dining experience a bit more. The restaurant was more open than I expected the first time I went in. The majority of the seating is up front in a main dining area that features tables and booths. There are a few other more private seating areas surround this area. There's also a full service bar with seating if you're just there for a drink.
On our visits service has been impeccable from the time we walk in to the time we leave and we've always enjoyed our meals. If you like Italian food, you'll find something to like on Alta Strada's menu. There are old fashioned favorites like Chicken Piccata or Veal Saltimbocca along with other pastas, entrees and antipasti choices that are all very good. We've yet to find anything on the menu that we didn't like.
We generally go for right for the pasta and the old school specials, skipping the antipasti dishes and appetizers. That way we have room for dessert after we've finished our meal and we don't end up spending a ton of money. One of my favorite choices is the crispy chicken piccata. My partner really likes the Fedelini with Clams.
Alta Strada is not an inexpensive restaurant, it's at the higher end of Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods restaurants. Expect to spend $40 to $50 a person for most meals, though that can get much higher if add multiple antipasti or appetizers dishes and start really enjoying that wine list.
For anyone visiting MGM Grand at Foxwoods, I always recommend a stop at Alta Strada if they like Italian cuisine and don't mind splurging a bit moneywise.
