On weekends, they offer karaoke, which is set up at the front of the bar. This is always an enjoyable experience whether you are singing or simply watching the entertainment. If singing is not your style, then they have pool tables and darts in the back of the bar. In addition, there is a spacious patio outside that overlooks a lake. They even have a pool table outside sometimes. How cool is that?
This bar has a very warm feeling to it. It's the kind of place where anybody, no matter what race, no matter what gender, no matter what lifestyle, will feel very welcome. The staff are as fun and friendly as can be. During a couple of my visits, I was even given some free beers from the bartender. Now, I'm not saying that you should expect to get free beers every time you go there, but it is a nice gesture from time to time. Not only are the bartenders nice, but the bouncers are awesome, too. Normally when you think of a bouncer, you think of a large stiff who stands like a statue and never cracks a smile. They all seem to look like they are severely constipated. That is not the case with this bar. The bouncers are very outgoing. Heck, you will occasionally catch some of them even participating in karaoke. During my last visit, the bouncer did two solos! And he was pretty damn good, I must say!
The drinks are very affordable and reasonable and there is never any trouble finding a parking space. This is not located in one of those crowded downtown areas, so you will never have to worry about paying $8 to park 6 blocks away.
If you are a football fan, you are in luck, too. They have the NFL ticket and will show most of the games every Sunday. If the game you want to see is not being shown on one of their TV's, then simply ask them if they can change one of the TV's and they will most likely honor your request.
In addition, they have a menu for you people with the munchies. The only thing that may be a turnoff is if you are annoyed by smokers. This is not a smoke-filled bar, although, smoking is allowed inside, so you may run into a little puff of smoke from time to time.
So, if you are looking for a fun night away from the zoo-like downtown scene, then Cheers is where you should be. The Altamonte Springs Cheers is located at 580 Cape Cod Lane, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714, phone # (407) 774-1022.
