My prayer was answered in 1993. I was in my early thirties. A caring friend of mine that I had made upon moving to Ventura, California introduced me to an Herbalist she knew. I had no idea what an Herbalist was, but figured I had nothing to lose and was too ill to care. The Herbalist was a very kind older lady who owned a Health Food Store in Ventura, California. With my friend's prompting I explained about my annual bronchitis that I was suffering from. The Herbalist recommended I use Eucalyptus Oil in hot steaming water in a bowl with a towel over my head to help me cough up the fluid and mucous in my lungs. She further suggested Goldenseal and Echinacea; recommended taking them while suffering from the Bronchitis. The Herbalist explained how these would work with my body to promote a healthier me. She also recommended Horehound cough drops to sooth my throat from coughing. The Herbalist mentioned how beneficial it would be to take (from natural sources only) vitamins with minerals that included solely chelated iron. I politely thanked her for her suggestions and advise; did as she recommended by purchasing from her the vitamin/mineral supplements, Horehound drops, Eucalyptus Oil, Goldenseal, and Echinacea for around $40 including tax. I had my doubts, but was willing to try these.
It was the best investment in my health I ever made. My health was restored more rapidly than earlier bouts of Bronchitis. I wanted to maintain my good health, so began visiting The Herbalist's store and purchasing books about aromatherapy and medicinal herbs. The Herbalist was delighted by my eagerness to learn, taught me much. She also introduced me to a local Alternative Medicine physician in case I required his services. I have not had a bout of Bronchitis since, for I followed his advise about what I was eating and what foods I should be eating.
Since then, I have made certain to be solely treated by Homeopathic, Naturopathic, and Oriental Medicine doctors. Throughout the years, I have moved to two other states; ailments came and went, including an issue with my gallbladder working in reverse and uterine fibroids. I have circumvented receiving surgery for these and am healthy thanks to my Alternative Medicine Practitioner.
Some may say Alternative Medicine costs more. That has not been my experience for most of the medicinal herbs I have purchased have been about $5, $10, or $15 per bottle, lasting me for months, depending upon how often I needed to use them. The most expensive Homeopathic over the counter medicine I have taken is HGH which I continue to purchase for $30 per bottle, a one month supply, from Midwest Nutrition Distributors.
It has been my experience, Health Food Stores have a vast variety of herbs and are a great place to find an Herbalist who can help you find what your Alternative Medicine Physician has recommended. Herbalists usually know to reach good Alternative Medicine Physicians and are a great resource. Well worth meeting and befriending.
