Not Every Medical Problem Requires a Trip to the Doctor's Office

You don't always have to go to the doctor's office for every medical problem or ailment that comes up. Not only can you fix many of these problems yourself, it is recommended by the doctor.

Very similar to one of the other articles I wrote "The Best Aromatherapy Candles Used for Stress Relief", this article will be very helpful in many ways including saving you time and money.

My mother has arthritis; so that will be the first topic. Arthritis is a medical condition affecting a joint(s), causing pain, swelling, and stiffness by attacking the cartilage. Now that we understand how arthritis works we can begin to relieve.

The top two recommended alternative remedies are Chondroitin and Glucosamine. These two compounds are known for their ability of repairing cartilage. Taking these compounds as a daily supplement in doses of 1200mg to 1500mg for approximately three to five months will not only reduce your symptoms of arthritis but will also cause the cartilage to rebuild itself.

The next topic is Menopause. Who couldn't agree something desperately needs to be done about this. Not to be funny but, everyone suffers from this, men and women alike in one fashion or another.

Because not every woman can take estrogen which relieves most of the menopausal symptoms, there are other solutions out there. It's a little trickier and depending on how bad your symptoms are, if you actually want to follow all of the suggestions, which might I add work better together.

The first thing to be recommended is Acupuncture with a few Chinese herbs one to two servings of soy foods daily along with one to two tablespoons of ground flaxseed. These compounds are a two for one-er because it also reduces high cholesterol. Other symptoms such as night sweats, nervousness, headaches, and heart palpitations can be reduced by consuming forty to sixty mg of Black Cohosh twice daily.

Now onto digestive problems, which I think half the world has. One of the oldest known herbs that are most commonly used for digestive issues is known as Anise. Anise is a mild anti-parasitic and the leaves are what is used for the digestive tract.

When we get nauseated it is often too difficult to eat, I mean after all, who enjoys rushing to the restroom just to well you know where I'm headed. Well, if you're tired of all that nausea my suggestion to you is Ginger. Not only is Ginger great for the nausea but it has so many uses its unreal.

Ok let's solve one problem at a time, sticking to the nausea. Ginger can be consumed in a few different forms, capsules, prescription or tea. As a tea it is actually quite tasty, so being biased that is my recommendation for consumption. It will take approximately thirty minutes but will get that nausea under control.

Oh by the way, if you would like to make the tea here is the recipe: you'll need a piece of fresh Ginger about the size of your knuckle. Skin it, dice it, and place it in a mug with a little brown sugar. Pour boiling water over the mixture and allow steeping for about five minutes. If you don't have fresh ginger you can substitute it with ground ginger but only using a half-teaspoon. Ginger ale is not recommended because of its low Ginger content.

Alright, while Ginger has many uses the next one is for Diarrhea. Ginger compounds are active against a form of diarrhea which is the leading cause of infant death.

I tell you Ginger has so many helpful remedies, such as blood thinning and cholesterol lowering properties that may make it useful for treating heart disease.

Did you know that Ginger can also be used for the common cold and flu symptoms? Tea brewed from ginger is a remedy for colds. Three to four leaves of Tulsi taken along with a piece of Ginger on an empty stomach is an effective cure for congestion, cough and cold.

I'm sure you guys know this remedy, but if not I'll fill you in. Bladder infections can be cured with Cranberry Juice. Fluids are always useful in preventing as well as helping to rid you of your bladder infection. It just so happens, that Cranberry Juice works better than let's say water for a few different reasons. One of which is it prevents the bacteria that cause the infection from sticking to the lining of the urinary tract.

Even after you have gotten rid of the urinary tract infection it is highly recommended to drink about eight ounces of cranberry juice everyday to ensure your risk is lowered.

Here is something I bet you didn't know, for bee stings tobacco held onto the sting decreases the swelling and the burn, as it slowly removes the poison.

How many of you know what Baking Soda is for besides having the opened box sit in the back of the fridge? Say you're a non-smoker, you can you Baking Soda. You simply mix it well with water, turning it into a paste and apply to the sting.

Baking Soda also works well in calming a skin rash. Sprinkling a cup of Baking Soda into a tepid tub of water, then simply enjoy a relaxing soak.

I'm sure you all know about this one for sure. Baking Soda is a mild abrasive and works great on teeth. It polishes the stains off your teeth with out damaging the enamel. Just simply add it to water to form a paste.

If you're having itchy skin one of the best remedies to help is Oatmeal. Soaking in a bath of oatmeal does a wonder for your skin. It can sooth a myriad of skin conditions such as poison ivy, poison oak, bee stings, hives, insect bites and sunburns. It's also an invigoration solution to dry skin.

I wonder can I stump you with this one Meat Tenderizer. Can you guess what it's for? Ok, ok meat tenderizer is great for mosquito bites being that it relieves the pain and reduces inflammation.

Whew! I hope I have given you a lot of useful information, now worries I have plenty more to tell you about. Unfortunately it will have to wait until my next article.
