Finding herbs can be as simple as heading to your local grocery store or perhaps just walking out in your garden. But finding good quality herbs, free of pesticides and other chemicals is often another story. Enter in Mountain Rose Herbs, an Oregon based herb company.
We began using Mountain Rose Herbs in 2005 and haven't found another herb company to equal them. Their herbs are certified organic or ethically wildharvested. The herbs are analyzed to check quality and determine their true botanical identity. In addition, they offer bulk discounts which are greatly appreciated when needing enough herbs to treat several animals that weigh about a thousand pounds!
I have enough demands on my time without having to worry about the quality of the herbs we feed to the horses. We've used other herb companies whose herbs arrived looking unidentifiable, or with sticks and other objects mixed in. With Mountain Rose Herbs that has never been an issue.
Their essential oils are also certified organic or when not certified organic the plants used to make the oils are free from pesticides and other chemicals. Their oils are only from first distillations, making them therapeutic grade oils. It takes just smelling their oils to tell the difference.
I've also used some of their other products for myself including: natural shampoo, herbal teas, butters, carrier oils, flower waters, and flavoring extracts.
Towards the end of 2006 we began approaching companies and individuals for sponsorships/donations for the 2007 Arizona Animal Fair; Mountain Rose Herbs was one of those companies. Their overwhelming positive and friendly response was extremely encouraging. They generously donated a beautiful gift basket filled with over $70 worth of their products for us to raffle off. The basket proved to be a huge hit.
We have been incredibly pleased with the quality of their products and the friendliness and helpfulness of their people. They are the first, and only, herb company we recommend.
