E.L.F.'s Essential Super Glossy Lip Shine is an exceptional product for moisturizing and protecting the lips--but did you know it can also double as a primer, highlighter or eyebrow glue? No need to buy primers or highlighters if you have this lip gloss in stock. Here's how I use E.L.F.'s lip gloss to perfect my look.
Primer
As an eyeshadow primer, this lip gloss works nearly as good as drugstore primers--the catch here is this lip gloss is only a dollar. To prep your eyes for eyeshadow, dab a drop of lip gloss on your eyelid, from crease to eyebrow. Make sure to pat it dry. Now taking your favorite eyeshadow, use a small brush to dab color onto your eyelids. The color should look more vibrant and stick to your eyelids without creasing.
Highlighter
Want to highlight your cheeks or brow bone but don't have a highlighter on hand? E.L.F.'s lip gloss can add a hint of highlight to your face without overpowering it--and the highlighting action stays for hours. To highlight your cheeks, smile and dab a pea-sized amount of lip gloss on the top parts of your cheeks. Spread it out with a stippling brush for subtle, glimmering highlights.
To highlight your brow bones, add a drop of lip gloss to the area just below your eyebrow and spread it out evenly. Use your finger to spread it across the brow bone and down into the eyelid area. This should add a slight shimmer to your brow bones.
Eyebrow Glue
Want to keep your shapely brows in place but don't have eyebrow glue? To keep them in place, I like to dab lip gloss directly on the eyebrows to stiffen them. To keep them in the shape I desire, I use a eyebrow brush to comb it into place. The lip gloss dries and stiffens the eyebrow hairs much like hair spray, keeping them in place for hours. Because the color is translucent, it doesn't muddle my eyebrow color.
How to Choose the Right Lip Gloss
Although E.L.F. glosses are very versatile, not all lip glosses are the same. To choose the right lip gloss for highlighting or keeping makeup in place, follow these tips:
- Choose a translucent, colorless lip gloss. I favor E.L.F.'s Super Glossy Lip Shine in Angel, which adds a nice, translucent shine to my cheeks, brow bones and lips.
- Choose lip gloss with a slight shine. This allows the lip gloss to add a subtle shine to your face. Choose a lip gloss with too much shine and it can easily overpower your face--not a good look.
- Stick with thick, sticky lip glosses. Smooth, watery lip glosses don't stick as well, so go thick when possible. You can always spread out the formula with a stippling brush or a finger to make it less thick.
Remember, less is more. Go with a subtle lip gloss for soft, illuminating action that makes your face pop with color.
