Alternative Uses for Your Iron

Tammy White
Does anyone actually use an iron anymore? Aren't dress clothes a nice pair of jeans? The majority of families keep their iron in a box collecting dust in the attic or basement. There isn't really a demand for used irons on E-bay. How much would consumers pay? For alternative uses for your iron that are just plain ridiculous see my list of ideas below.

1. Protection- If you don't have a baseball bat in your house, your iron could serve as a weapon. Store it under your bed in case of a burglar. It's heavy and metal and hard!

2. Cooking- Why buy a stove when you have a good iron? Think of all the great space you could save! Make a grilled cheese sandwich and steam green peas. It's a handy kitchen tool!

3. Hair Styling- Don't waste money on hair dryers and hair straightening tools. Your iron can style your hair. The flat surface is huge. You could really save time! Practice burning the hair on your spouse!

4. Extra weight- Do you need a nice paperweight for your office or home? Are you looking for weights to work out? Your iron is heavy. Why not give it a try? Pumping iron could have a new meaning!

5. Sinus relief- Are you sick with a cold? Do you have a sore throat? Are you sniffing and coughing and sneezing? Inhale bursts of steam and start breathing again. It works great as a healthcare tool!

6. Warmth- Do your bed sheets feel chilly? Do your pajamas feel cold? Use your iron to help you sleep cozy. You could warm up your mitts before heading outside. Why not heat up the seat of your chair?

7. Vase- Pour water in the steamer and pick a few flowers. Make your iron a nice centerpiece. It's a good pot for the sunroom or front porch of your house. Collect irons to make a nice set!

8. Facial- Is your skin feeling dry? Is your face looking dull? An iron is like a home facial. Use the steam to relax and rejuvenate your skin. Host an iron facial party!

9. Aromatherapy- Add scented oil to the water you put in your iron. It's like making your own perfume. Spray a puff on your clothes before every big date. Use your iron to freshen the air!

10. Kettle- What could you do with a second kettle? Bring your iron to your bedroom or office. Boil water for coffee and steep a cup of green tea. A funnel works great to help pour!

An iron is a very versatile tool. Imagine all the things you could do. Don't make waste at the dump by throwing it out. Dust it off and be creative!

This is great Tammy. I only use my iron once a year when I need to quickly steam a blouse. I'm just too lazy. haha

HAHAHA, This is great. I think I use my iron twice a year & only if the clothes is just wrinkled beyond recognition.
