Alternative Uses for Lotion

De-Frizz Hair, Shoe Polisher, Static Free Clothes and More

Lotion was created to smooth dish pan hands and to give skin a soft healthy glow. Lotion also rids the skin of flakiness and dryness. There are many other alternative uses for lotion that many have not heard about. Try some of these helpful and useful hints for using lotion.

Shaving Your Legs

Instead of using bar soap or if you have ran out of your normal shaving gel in the can, you can use some of your hand or body lotion. Apply some lotion onto the palm of your hand and then rub the lotion onto your legs and shave them as usual. Use lotions which contain Aloe Vera or Vitamin E which will leave your legs softer and full of moisture after the lotion is rinsed off.

De Static Your Pet's Fur

Winter time brings static cling and you can keep your dog or cat's fur free of static electricity by using simple plain lotion. Depending on the size of the family pet, all you do is squeeze an adequate amount of lotion on to the palm of your hands and rub your hands together and then go pet your dog or cat running your hands up and down their backs and their heads. Not only will your pet's fur be static free, but they will smell clean & fresh too. I like using Johnson's & Johnson's Baby Lotion on my pet's fur.

De-Frizz Hair

Apply a small amount of lotion on to the palm of your hands and then run you fingers through your hair. This is great to do during the summer time and when the weather is rainy. Keep a small bottle of lotion in your purse to use when you are out shopping and get caught out in the rain. Just run your hands with some lotion through your hair and the frizz will disappear like magic. Your hair will smell yummy too.

Shoe Polisher

If you do not have any shoe polish on hand and your leather shoes need help, grab a bottle of lotion and apply a dab onto a soft cotton cloth and work the lotion into the leather. Your shoes will shine like a new penny. You can do this with any pairs of shoes which are not made out of cloth.

Static Free Clothes

The weather can wreak havoc not only on our hair but on our clothes too. If you are out on a date and your skirt or blouse is full of static electricity all you need to do is rub lotion on to your hands and then rub you hands over your blouse or skirt.

Mitten & Glove Moisturizer

Before you put your gloves or mittens on, apply lotion to your hands and then slide your hands inside of your gloves. This will keep the inside of your gloves and mittens moisturized and your hands will be less likely to become dry and flaky from the cold winter weather.

House Shoes & Slippers Moisturizer

Before you put your house shoes or slippers on rub some lotion on the inside of each house shoe. You can also lotion both of your feet before you slip into your house shoes or slippers. Your house shoes will always smell fresh now.

Static Free Pantyhose

Rub some lotion on to your hands and then rub them over a pair of pantyhose to take away static electricity. This will also help make it easier to put pantyhose on.

I do use lotion to de-frizz my hair in the winter. It helps with the static cling.
