Alternative Wedding Registry- - Ideas for the Couple Who Has it All

Michele Arrowsmith- Rowe
Are you a couple who all ready has enough household items to set up a home? Is this a second marriage? Need some alternative wedding registry ideas? How about setting up a registry for: home improvements, a down payment towards the purchase of a home, a honeymoon, donations to your favorite charity or cause, or adding wine to your collection?

First things first! Before discussing different ways to register, let's discuss wedding registry etiquette! I know certain department stores give you their advertisements that explain where you are registered. Further, they instruct you to include them in your invitations. However, never do this! Emily Post, the expert on etiquette, explains that such a plan would be tacky! For, what you are telling your guests is that you want a present from them, instead of their charming presence, at your "joyous occasion!" It is the job of the people, close to you, to spread the word to your guests! Emily Post, however, does explain that it is okay to set up a registry for a fund or monetary gift.

Have all the household items, but don't own a home? How about setting up a registry for your guests to help you with your down payment? At www.downpaymentdreams.com and www.featherournest.com , your guests can send money to an account towards a down payment on a home. Both websites will allow you to go to their websites and set up a registry online. Go to both sites to check out their extra perks that you will receive, if your register with them! However, there is a required refundable deposit on both websites. As long as you use one of their referred real estate agents, your deposit is returned to you. For more information, refer to those individual sites.

Own a home, but need funds for home improvements? "Home Depot," "Lowe's," and "Restoration Hardware" have wedding registries! To register at Lowe's go to www.lowes.com and go to the "gift adviser" and sign up for your wedding registry online. Interested in Home Depot? Go to the "special order desk" at your local Home Depot. Or, go to www.homedepot.com. Interested in Restoration Hardware? Go to www.restorationhardware.com and hit the "Gift Registry" button at the bottom of the page. From there, the website will walk you through the steps on signing up with their registry.

Paid for your wedding but don't have enough funds left over for your honeymoon? Go to www.travelersjoy.com! You can set up a free registry and create a honeymoon itinerary. When your guests visit the website, they can purchase a particular honeymoon excursion, adventure, or a special meal.

Do both of you have a particular cause that is dear to your hearts? Would you prefer that your wedding gift be a donation sent, in your name, to your favorite charity? You can set up a registry at: www.weddingchannel.com. When you log into their site, go to their registry page. There you will find a large selection of charities for you to choose from. Feeling generous? You can choose up to four charities!

Have a nice wine collection? Would you like to add wine to your selection? "Bottlenote" has a great wine registry! They are a premier wine club that has a very nice selection of red and white wines from all over the world. You can registry and select wine to fit your particular taste, right at their website. If you want more information, go to www.bottlenotes.com .

Since you already have the blender! Why not register for that dream vacation in the Bahamas, the three bedroom home, or a cure for cancer? All you have to do is visit these websites, answer a few questions, and push send! Congratulations!

I am not a total idiot. I always had the sense to say no wedding cake, no cheap modest wedding dresses officiant, no first

dance, no here comes the bride, no Times announcement, and absolutely no white dress. Who are we kidding? And why? We just wanted a big, awesome party where Formal wedding dresses everyone could meet and go bananas. Its a special opportunity, you know: The only other time everyone you love will assemble in one place is at your

funeral. (At most weddings, some formal western wedding dresses people you dont actually love will also be in attendance.
