Alternatives to Candy on Halloween

Trick or Treating Doesn't Always Mean Candy but it Can Mean Fun

Celebrating Halloween has became one of the more mundane as well as one of the seven most celebrated holidays. You buy candy, (or take you kids out to trick-or-treat), switch candy back and forth, then end up either going through the candy, or putting the excess candy away. you have the means and the time on this famous holiday to give out treats. This holiday is easy to master. You already know the peaks and cons associated with this fall holiday and to put this in a easier prospective, you are either a giver or a receiver, (sometimes both). One house likes to give, the other house likes to receive. There's only one thing odd I've noticed about Halloween; the parties never get together and find out what a child really wants. Of course they love candy, but have you ever thought that if you could give out an alternative, these bright beautiful children might not have to be dragged to a dentist within three months of Halloween? Have you ever thought that although candy does play an important part of this episode there might be an alternative to candy? This is a Genral list and great idea for alternatives to giving away candy.

Cracker Jack Toys

Better known as five-and-dime trinkets, these little, inexpensive toys make great gifts for those little ones who are used to getting candy. This is by far the best alternative to candy on several levels, including having something for a child who is too young to eat hard candy. Preserves visiting the dentist and the kids have something they can hold onto, instead of watching them eat it. By far, the best thing to give away without giving away alot of hard-earned money.

Gift Certificates

Another good gift to hand to those trick-or-treaters. These coupons are usually for sale during the month of October for distribution and kids absolutely love it. Mcdonalds and Hardee's are just two of the hundreds of restaurants that give away these vouchers for free food. I mean, think about it. what kid would give up a hamburger or an order of fries? The only issue with the gift certificates is that they can get expensive. Most are $1.00 and that doesn't sound like much, until you notice that you have about 200 kids knocking at your door.

Pencils

I know that it's hard to imagine that a child would rather have a pencil than a piece of candy, but with the way pencils are made these days, some pencils are pretty cool to have. There are pencils especially made for halloween. Pumkins, gjhosts, withches, and everything else associated with Halloween can be found relatively easy and you don't even have to buy a Halloween oriented set either. There are pencils with glitter, rainbows, foil, etc.. This cool idea is rather cheap also, considering thast you pay just as much for a piece of candy as you would a pencil, (average price ranging from a penny a piece to a dime).

Pennies

It was back in 1980 Halloween night when my mom decided to take us out for halloween. She left my dad to give away candy and it sounded like the simplest task, so my mom crossed her fingers and we went on our way. As we approached our house four hours later, I noticed that my dad had the piggy bank out and he had that look like he had another story to tell. Well, he did. Apparently, he didn't buy enough candy, so he decided to give away pennies instead. The idea was a great success and he was the talk of the town for awhile. This gave me the great Idea of doing this myself and I have been successful ever since. Pennies are like a treasdure to any child trick-or-treating, especially when you give them a handful, (which comes out to about twenty-five cents). Of course, it's best if you pick out a price, fill up a container and stick with it. This Idea can be expensive if not watched, but it's alot of fun giving away and twenty dollars worth of pennies beats twenty dollars worth of candy anyday.

So, if you get bored with these simple but highly effective ideas, you can also decorate the pencils, put the pennies in their own separate bag, etc.. The reast is up to you.

Happy Halloween and GOD Bless!
