Alternatives to Chocolate on Valentine's Day

Ryanick Paige
Valentine's Day is closing in fast and many people are scrambling to find the ultimate gift for their loved one. The easiest gift to give a man is always chocolate. For my husband a chocolate covered peanut butter egg from the local candy shop would be the way to his heart. However, he really does not need that extra sugar in his diet. Therefore, I have come up with a few alternatives to give him through out the years that do not added to his calorie count.

A car cleaning kit. Now this will only work if your husband enjoys cleaning the cars and making them shine. If he views it as a chore this will not be a good Valentine's Day gift for him. My husband is particularly found of the Meguiar's products. The have a couple different kits that are under $30 and make great Valentine's Day gifts.

A romantic evening. Many men are just as romantic as women are some even more so. Get a sitter for the kids and create a fabulous dinner of his favorites. Even if it is Hamburgers and Macaroni & Cheese, he will still be delighted that you can have a quiet candle lit dinner without the interruptions of children. To make the Valentine's Day extra special, get a few of his favorite movies or the new release he has been wanting to see. Snuggle on the couch and enjoy the one on one time together.

A CD of his favorite songs. Make him a CD of his favorite songs that reminds him of the good times you have had together. Now a "real" man will never tell you this is something that they want nor will they ever let another man know that they enjoy it. Songs can include your wedding dance song, a song you heard on your first date, or anything that will remind him of how much you love each other.

Tickets to his favorite sporting event. By getting him tickets to see his favorite sports team or to a race he may want to see shows him that you care about what he is interested in. By letting him choose who he wants to take shows that you are secure enough to let him go out with the guys and have a good time and also can get you out of going somewhere you would rather not be.

These are just a few ideas to get your creative mind rolling on other ideas that might be great for your loved one. Although chocolate may be a Valentine's Day staple it is not necessary to show him that you love him.

Tickets to a sporting event. Now that would be something I'd want.

Great ideas... I don't have a man to shop for for Valentine's Day, but excellent read anyway... I'll keep these ideas in mind if and when the situation arises for me ;)
