Alternatives to Listing on Ebay

Sarah Holmes
If you wish to sell an item, Ebay is not the only place you can sell your wares. Here are some alternative places to selling your items online.

Half.com

Half.com is a great place to sell DVD's, books, music and video games. Read my article called, "How to Sell on Half.com" for more information.

Etsy.com

Etsy.com is a place a lot of people use to sell their craft items. I have never sold on Etsy before, but if you want to know more information about how to sell on Etsy simply visit Etsy.com. I believe it is free to set up an account on Etsy and you only pay a portion of the end listing fee. However, I recommend you find out for sure by visiting Etsy.com and finding out how to set up an account. Etsy is a marketplace for crafters.

Amazon

Amazon is a place where you can sell your gently used media on Amazon. In order to sell on Amazon, simply find the book or other media item you wish to sell. Then browse the gently used items link for the specific item. After you are on the gently used page for the item, click the button maked, "Sell Yours Here". Amazon will walk you through some very simple steps to help you sell your gently used media. Amazon does not charge a listing fee. Instead, you will be charged a % of the final value after your item has sold. All you need to sell on Amazon is an Amazon account. You will not need a camera.

Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to sell items locally. Craigslist is especially good for selling larger items like furniture and items too heavy to mail. There are no fees for selling on Craigslist. Be sure to read the warnings on Craigslist in order to ensure you do not end up selling to a scam artist.

Other Auction Websites

There are many other auction websites online. Simply do a search online to find more. Ebay is by far the largest and most well known auction website. However there are many smaller auction websites as well. Some charge a fee and others do not charge a fee for listing. The most important thing to remember when listing an item to auction oline is to read the fine print. You always, always, always want to read the membership agreement. This will allow you to know about any hidden fees, any rights you might give up or retain by listing with any given company and the rules for listing on specific websites.

No matter where you choose to sell your item online, you can make additional money for your household by selling online. It is easy and simple to do. You need no money out of pocket and you can help your family financially by putting forth the effort to list your wares on Ebay.

If they're cheaper than ebay, that would be a good thing - on my way to check them out later!
