Use gift bags. Gift bags make a great alternative to wrapping gifts. They require very little time and you still can hide your gift until Christmas Day. Gift bags are available in all shapes and sizes, including bags designed especially for Christmas. They are relatively inexpensive and can be found even at your local dollar store. If you are a rookie when it comes to wrapping this is definitely and option to consider.
Have someone else wrap for you. As you walk around the mall, or a department store you will see lots of people offering to wrap your gift. Sometimes there is a charge for this service. Often you can find people offering such a service merely for a donation.
Passing off this responsibility to someone else can save you time, energy and frustration. You can even drop the gift off and do other shopping while someone else takes care of the gift. Another option is to find a family member or friend to help you out by wrapping the gift. Some people really enjoy doing this and as a result will give you a huge break.
Buy something that doesn't have to be wrapped. Buying larger items is often a way to get you out of gift wrapping. Simply tie a bow around your gift and present it when you are ready. Items like TV's, theater systems, or furniture all fall into this category. If you are going really big for Christmas this year, such as a new car, this also would fall into this category. Whatever your choice, finding gifts that don't need to be wrapped is a great idea when trying to avoid wrapping.
Give your gift early. Giving your gift early will take away the need to wrap a gift. Present the gift to the person who you're buying for and let them enjoy it. The person you are buying for will probably be so excited to get their gift early they won't care that it's not wrapped. Even if they do care, it will probably be forgotten about quickly.
Give cash. Cash and gift certificates don't need to be wrapped. There not as fun to receive, but boy are they easy on the giver. Less thinking, less of your time and less to prepare in terms of presentation. Giving a gift certificate and cash is a great way to get out of wrapping a gift.
These are just a few alternatives to wrapping your gifts this Christmas.
