The Olde World Canterbury Village located near Lake Orion, Michigan off I-75 has become our Christmas shopping stop during the Christmas Holiday season. Driving into Canterbury Village is like stepping into another time zone. Its old world style and Christmas feel is almost like being in one of those old fashion Christmas cards. Canterbury Village is one of the largest Christmas stores in the world. It has been designated an historic landmark by the State of Michigan.

If you are looking for a Christmas shopping experience away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping malls and want to make new memories with your family at Christmas time then check out the quaint shops at Canterbury Village. Who says Christmas shopping can't be enjoyable? Make this a Christmas shopping tradition.

Aldridge's Always Christmas is located inside Canterbury Village.

Always Christmas with 90,000 square feet of retails space is one of the largest Christmas stores in Michigan. It is set in the old world style of Canterbury Village. Always Christmas boasts some of the most unique Christmas decorations anywhere. Always Christmas also carries Department 56 items, Boyd's Bears, Lenox and Precious Moments displays, plus tons of unique Christmas trees and ornaments. Also after Thanksgiving, Santa is available to hear those wish lists for Christmas. Walking into Always Christmas is like walking into a magical Christmas scene.

In the lower level of Always Christmas you will descend down into the Canterbury Toy World. In the Canterbury Toy World you will find some of the most unique toys around, nothing like what you would find in the toy stores at the malls. There is also a large selection of Educational Insights educational toys and games.

Canterbury Village's Highland Fling and The Celtic Connection well worth the visit.

The Highland Fling is a complete Scottish retailer. The Highland Fling is the only Scottish kilt rental outlet in Michigan. If you have any Scotsmen on your Christmas shopping list, this store for sure will satisfy your needs. The Highland Fling is located in the horse managers house built in 1922.
The Celtic Connection has only been open for 10 years but already carries some of the best Irish linens and knitwear around. They also carry a great selection of welsh love spoons, crystal, books and flags; jewelry from Cornwall and products from the Isle of Man. Being of Irish decent, we really enjoy picking up a few items for ourselves here. The Celtic Connection is located in what was once the cattle managers' house built in 1922.

Whittington's Clocks and Home Accents locate in the saddle horse barn at Canterbury.

We are huge clock lovers so this is definitely one of our stops. Whittington's Clocks and Home Accents have expanded more into the home accents but our main focus is on the clocks. They carry such brands as Howard Miller, and Magic Motion Clocks. I worked at Howard Miller Clock Company so I have a tendency to favor these clocks. Whittington's Clocks and Home Accents carries a varied selection of wall clocks, Grandfather clocks, desk clocks and table clocks, plus some unique clocks as well.

There are several other stores inside the Olde World Canterbury Village as well. There is a quit shop, another gift shop and a wonderful operating German carousel in the Pavilion.

The day at Canterbury Village at Christmas would not be complete without eating. We all dine at the Kings Court Castle. That's right; a castle is also part of Canterbury Village. The dining is great. They also have a pub called The Clansman Gaelic Pub. The men can go to the pub and watch sports on the 3 plasma televisions will everyone else enjoys the shopping.

Christmas time at Canterbury Village is wonderful, with the snow covered walkways and the carolers and Christmas decorations. It is absolutely magical.
