Alzheimers Patient

Jersey
You're the prisoner
Of the unseen jailor.
Your mind
Your being
Shackled to
A confused
Decaying shell.
You wander
In search of
Your dignity
Your memories
The past
The present
All stolen
By the unseen thief.
Simple processes
Brushing your teeth
Tying your shoes
Signing your name
How to speak
Forgotten
Are the simple things
Your name
Loved ones
People
Places
Things.
You're lost
Trapped
In a day
Long since past.
You're living
In an unending
Nightmare,
Where
You're the prisoner
To the unseen jailor,
To the unseen thief,
Alzheimers.
