During karaoke session, I feel the quality of my voice is not far from the original singer's. And once I get hold on to the mike, there is no way other people get a chance to sing, except become my background singers. I really need them to back me up especially when I cannot reach those high-pitch notes. Nevertheless, my colleagues love to invite me along, because I think, I always put up a performance while singing. I have to bank on my dancing skills since my singing is not that good (to them).
My list of favorite numbers is ranging from rock, pop, ballad even jazz. Songs like I Hate Myself For Loving You, I Love Rock & Roll, Unbreak My Heart, How Do I, La Isla Bonita, Like A Virgin, Think Twice, When I Fall In Love are the top of my list. My selection of songs are the ones that need strong control of voice. However, it never hinders me from singing those high-pitch songs. I love challenges.
Challenges. Yes, that is the main keyword to karaoke addiction. When I fail to sing the chosen song in the first attempt, it will drive me mad. It makes me want to try again and again, until I satisfy myself. By now, if my friends are start talking about work, that indicates they are bored (by me, perhaps). This is when I reluctantly pass the mike to other person. Take a rest and wet my dry, sore throat. But not for long....I will grab the mike whenever I get a chance. Hey, why asked me for a duet!
When I sing, I will sing confidently, despite of my not-so-good voice, with a star-styled performance, all eyes will be on me. That is what I like the most and it makes me going and going. I feel like as if I'm in a limelight. The cheers and the applauds really thrill me. Somehow, karaoke relieves my stress at work, in relationship or in life, as a whole. I just have to scream it out and the stress is no more lingers in my head. Wow!
People can call me a jerk or say I do not mirror myself. When comes to karaoke, I have an attitude of "bring it on". Sometimes, I wish I can apply it to life, stand up to any obstacles or objections. With a lot of karaoke sessions, I believe I will one day. Till then the mike will be in my hands.
