Amanda Bynes is Great in Lovewrecked

A Cute, Silly Movie - Great for Girls of All Ages

Suzanne Rose
When I saw this was gonna be on TV, I was surprised I hadn't heard of it. I like Amanda Bynes, she's a great actress, so I had to watch it. I found out it came out on DVD in March 2007, so here's some info for those of you who may want to run out and buy it. Otherwise, maybe it will be on TV again and you can save your money!

Minor Plot Details (No Spoilers Here!)
Jason Masters is a famous singer that Jenny Riley absolutely loves. She even tries to crowd surf her way onto stage at one of his concerts. Too bad her rival, Alexis, beats her to him! On another note, Jenny just graduated from High School and is looking for love, the sweep you off your feet sort of love! Her and her friend Ryan are planning to work in the Caribbean all summer and apparently Alexis is working at the same hotel they are working at. To add to the story, Jason is staying there too! Can you see where this is going?

Jenny is convinced that if Jason got to spend some time with her, he'd fall for her. She finds her way on to a sunset cruise he is taking. Jason gets a little sea sick and falls overboard, and Jenny jumps after to save him. Now you probably get it! Just like the title of the movie suggests, they end up lost on an island, alone. Will this give Jenny enough time to make Jason fall for her???? Will they survive? Watch and see!

Actors
Amanda Bynes .... Jenny Riley - the star. Like I said, she's a great and fun actress. She doesn't seem to take herself too seriously and she always seems very down-to-earth. In this movie she was more serious than in some of her other films, but still a lot of fun!

Jenny: It's so cool that we're hanging out right now.
Jason: We're in a raft in the middle of the ocean. Do you see the problem???

Chris Carmack .... Jason Masters - the singer. At first I thought he would be cocky, but he turned out to be pretty nice as the movie went on. He was definitely a good pick as the teen idol, but at the same time he did seem a bit old for Amanda (just a little bit).

Jonathan Bennett .... Ryan - her friend who obviously has a crush on her even though she's clueless. He was good at the part of the boy who always gets overlooked and overworked. His character brings some laughs as he's forced to work in all kinds of different jobs at the hotel.

Jamie-Lynn DiScala .... Alexis - She's a mean girl who will do anything to beat Jenny whenever she can! She seems to want to beat Jenny for no reason other than just to be mean. I think most people will easily dislike her for the most part, so she was a good pick.

Fred Willard .... Mr. Riley - This guys a jokester and I love it! He's her silly dad who seems relaxed and very carefree. He's not in it much, but enough to make me laugh a few times.

You'll also see Alfonso Ribeiro playing their boss at the hotel and also Lance Bass and Kathy Griffin as some of Jason's people. Just a few fun additions to the cast.

My Thoughts
I've yet to see an Amanda Bynes movie I don't like. She's always a really fun character, and she is also a great role model. She never acts real slutty and once again plays the good girl in this movie. There were a few unexpected twists which is always great for a silly movie like this! I was surprised to actually find the movie was not 100% predictable. It turned out to be a lot different than I had initially thought, so I hope it surprises you too (cause I'm not giving anything away).

Amanda was funny as always, and it's crazy the lengths her character will go through to get a guy to like her! The whole time they are on the island, she's not only trying to survive, she's trying to impress the guy. As the quote above shows, she wasn't even initially worried about their situation b/c she was too happy to be with Jason.

On the Island, Jason is also hurt, so Jenny must figure out a way for them survive. At first, she seems very much like most of us - clueless! But she gets better, and it's fun to see just how she manages to keep them alive. We see a lot of Jason's personality too and find that he isn't quite the cocky guy most famous singers are portrayed as in movies, but at the same time he's a little dim. It was just another reason to laugh and enjoy this film.

Conclusion
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this for a friend, but I've already seen it on TV multiple times so check your listings. It's equal in quality to Amanda's other works so I'm still surprised it wasn't really advertised! If you like her usual characters, you'll probably like this too. Check it out. Enjoy!!

Yep I like her too. I think she's a very sweet girl and I don't see her going the direction of other teen stars who get into all that bad stuff.
